Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle door lock which is equipped with a locking mechanism, an actuating lever mechanism (1, 2), comprising at least one actuating lever (1) and a coupling lever (2), and finally at least one blocking element (3). The blocking element (3) ensures a mechanical connection between the actuating lever (1) and the coupling lever (2) during normal operation. In the event of acceleration forces (F) of a specified magnitude, for example during an accident, the blocking element (3) mechanically separates the actuating lever (1) and the coupling lever (2).
