Abstract:
A garment for using in absorbing and containing waste comprising an aqueous liquid impervious backing member having a peripheral edge, an aqueous liquid pervious body-side liner having a peripheral edge, and an absorbent pad that has been skewed forward by a factor of at least 0.27. A hook-type fastener member comprises a carrier member secured to the side portions of the front body panel in front of the side seam and a plurality of hooks extending from the carrier member, wherein at least a portion of the plurality of hooks are engaged with the landing portion. A method for making the absorbent garment, and for securing the absorbent garment to a user, also are provided. In another aspect, an absorbent garment comprises a body panel having a length and a fastening member comprising at least two engagement portions releasably engaging the body panel. Each of the engagement portions having an engagement length, wherein the sum of the engagement lengths is at least about 20% of the body panel length.
Abstract:
A convertible pant-like, prefastened, disposable absorbent article having a back waist region and a front waist region forming a waist opening and two leg regions each forming a leg opening. A ratio of an elastic tension of the back waist region to an elastic tension of each of the leg region is at least about 0.6. Thus, the convertible pant-like, prefastened disposable absorbent article of the present invention is effective in reducing undesired leakage when it is applied to the wearer in a manner similar to a conventional training pant rather than a conventional diaper article.
