Abstract:
A disposable garment for wearing about the lower torso employs pleats or folds in the waist region of the garment allowing the hip region to expand. The pleats are secured in a bond zone at the waist. An absorbent assembly is attached at the waist region and is free to expand at the hip region of the garment, also allowing for unfolding and expansion of the folded lateral extensions during loading of the panels and pleats in the absorbent assembly, together form longitudinally opposite pockets for collecting liquid and solid exudates.
Abstract:
A refastenable absorbent garment comprises a front body panel comprising a pair of side portions defining opposite side edges and a landing portion extending between said side portions, wherein the landing portion and each of the side portions are separated by a line of weakness. A rear body panel comprises opposite side edges that are joined to the opposite side edges of the front body panel to form a side seam. A hook-type fastener member comprises a carrier member secured to the side portions of the front body panel in front of the side seam and a plurality of hooks extending from the carrier member, wherein at least a portion of the plurality of hooks are engaged with the landing portion. A method for making the absorbent garment, and for securing the absorbent garment to a user, also are provided. In another aspect, an absorbent garment comprises a body panel having a length and a fastening member comprising at least two engagement portions releasably engaging the body panel. Each of the engagement portions having an engagement length, wherein the sum of the engagement lengths is at least about 20% of the body panel length.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a disposable undergarment includes elongating a body panel material in a first directionto an elongated condition, attaching a crotch member to the body panel material while the body panel material is in the elongated condition, and retracting the body panel material in the first direction from the elongated condition to arelaxed condition. A disposable undergarment, and a method for using the garment, are also provided.
Abstract:
Containment flaps comprising an elastic member and a resilient member are disclosed. When employed in a disposable absorbent article, the resilient member is adapted to be disposed between the elastic member and the body surface of the wearer of the disposable absorbent article. The resilient member serves to help make the containment flaps more comfortable for the wearer, and can help the flap better conform to contours associated with the body surfaces with which the containment flap comes into contact.
Abstract:
A disposable garment having a liquid permeable liner, a liquid impermeable/vapor permeable outer cover in opposed relationship with the liner and an absorbent body disposed between the liner and the outer cover. The outer cover has a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) as determined by a Water Vapor Transmission Rate Test of at least about 6,000 g/m 2 /24 hours. The disposable garment has an evaporation rate as determined by an Evaporation Rate Test of at least 0.15 g/hr/in 2 . A disposable garment is also disclosed having an absorbent body with an evaporation rate as determined by the Evaporation Rate Test of at least 0.30 g/hr/ in 2 , a saturation capacity ratio as determined by a Saturation Capacity Test of at least about 17 grams/gram, and a saturation capacity as determined by the Saturation Capacity Test of at least about 50 grams.
