Abstract:
The present invention is directed to ion-sensitive, water-dispersible polymers. The present invention is also directed to a method of making ion-sensitive, water-dispersible polymers and their applicability as binder compositions. The present invention is further directed to fiber-containing fabrics and webs comprising ion-sensitive, water-dispersible binder compositions and their applicability in water-dispersible personal care products.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a temperature-sensitive or ion-sensitive binder composition containing at least one temperature-sensitive or ion-sensitive polymeric material. The binder composition is either (1) insoluble in water containing greater than about 0.5 weight percent monovalent ions or water having a multivalent ion concentration greater than about 200 ppm multivalent ions, and soluble in water containing less than about 0.5 weight percent monovalent ions or water having a multivalent ion concentration less than about 200 ppm multivalent ions; or (2) insoluble in water having a temperature of greater than about 30 DEG C, and soluble in water having a temperature of less than about 25 DEG C. The present invention is further directed to a water-dispersible nonwoven fabric containing the temperature-sensitive or ion-sensitive binder material, which is useful in the manufacture of flushable personal care products. A process for making water-dispersible nonwoven fabrics is also provided.
Abstract:
This invention relates, in general, to blend compositions of an unmodified polyvinyl alcohol and a filler and thermoplastic film and fiber structures comprising these blend compositions. More specifically, this invention relates to substantially water-free films and fibers comprising unmodified polyvinyl alcohol and a filler.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to body-activated adhesives having adhesive properties, which increase with exposure to temperature and humidity conditions approximating the temperature and humidity proximate to the human body, particularly the temperature and humidity of the crotch. The novel adhesive compositions are useful as adhesive coatings or layers in various personal care products, particularly pantiliners. The adhesive compositions of the present invention are especially useful in personal care products, such as pantiliners. The present invention is also directed to pantiliners containing the adhesive compositions, which can be manufactured without a peel strip.
