    Abstract: A sealing arrangement for use in delivering a flow of breathing gas to an airway of a patient includes a base structure having a surface positioned to engage the face of the patient. The base structure defines an opening having a perimeter which is sized and configured to be disposed about one or more of the mouth and/or nares of the patient. The sealing arrangement further includes a secondary element coupled to the base structure. The secondary element is positioned and structured to contact the face of the patient when the base structure is disposed with the perimeter about the one or more of the mouth and/or nares of the patient. The base structure is formed from a first material, and the secondary element is formed from a second material different than the first material.

    Abstract: A patient interface (8) for use in delivering a flow of a breathing gas to an airway of a patient includes an inner mask (20) having an inner cushion (30) with an inward curving inner sealing portion (32) that is structured to sealingly engage the face of the patient, and an outer mask (22) coupled to the inner mask. The outer mask has an outer cushion (60) with an outward curving outer sealing portion (62) that is structured to sealingly engage the face of the patient completely around, and outward from, the inner sealing portion of the inner mask. The inner mask is sized and configured to define a positive pressure cavity (36) for receiving the flow of breathing gas and convey the flow to the airway of the patient. The outer mask is sized and configured to define a negative pressure cavity (66) that encompasses the inner mask and capture any gases escaping the inner mask.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a customized product overcomes the shortcomings of conventional manufacturing methodologies. This is achieved according to one embodiment of the present invention by providing a method of manufacturing a customized product that employs a fabrication environment that includes a plurality of patients in need of a customized product, and a plurality of manufacturers who employ additive manufacturing equipment that is capable of manufacturing customized products, and a computer that identifies correspondence between patients and manufacturers in order to enable a specification of a customized product that is customized for a particular patient to be forwarded to an appropriate manufacturer along with an instruction to manufacture the customized product.
