Abstract: A vaginal speculum device includes an elongate body with a first lumen for receiving a scope device and a second lumen allowing a user to collect a swab and/or sample. An insert is positioned within the second lumen and is selectively moveable between a closed position and an open position. A distal section of the elongate body includes a tapering section. The insert includes a distal wedge that is also tapered so that when the insert is in the closed position to close the second lumen, the taper of the wedge substantially matches the taper of the tapering section.
