Abstract:
A sleeve is provided for a partial diameter enlargement in which a portion of a workpiece between a pair of holder units supporting both end portions of the workpiece is enlarged by applying pressure to the workpiece in a direction of an axis of the workpiece while at the same time applying energy to the workpiece in a direction intersecting the axis to form a diameter-enlarged portion between the holder units. The sleeve is provided in at least one of the holder units to support at least one of the end portions of the workpiece in a fitted manner. The sleeve has at least two portions, one of which contacting the diameter-enlarged portion when the partial diameter enlargement is completed, so that only the portion that contacts the diameter-enlarged portion can be replaced.
Abstract:
A shaft diameter enlarging apparatus and a shaft diameter enlarging method are provided. The shaft diameter enlarging apparatus includes a presser to apply pressure to both ends of a shaft in an axial direction, a load generator to apply alternating load in a direction intersecting the axial direction to an intermediate portion of the shaft, a detector to detect an outer diameter of the intermediate portion being enlarged, along with a compression in the axial direction, through the application of the pressure and the alternating load, and a controller to control the presser and the load generator. The detector includes a contact element arranged to contact an outer peripheral surface of the intermediate portion to detect the outer diameter based on a displacement of the contact element. The controller adjusts the pressure applied by the presser and stops the compression of the intermediate portion, based on the detected outer diameter.
Abstract:
A shaft holding sleeve is inserted in a fitting hole of a compressing machine of a shaft diameter enlarging apparatus that applies an axial compression stress to a shaft stock to hold an end portion of the shaft stock during a shaft diameter enlarging process for radially enlarging a portion of the shaft stock. The shaft holding sleeve includes a front end surface to be inserted in the fitting hole, an exposed portion to be exposed to an outside of the fitting hole, and at least one air communication passage extending from the front end surface to a surface of the exposed portion. A jig may be attached to the shaft diameter enlarging apparatus to facilitate the insertion of the shaft holding sleeve into the fitting hole.
