Abstract:
Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for controlling emergency calling. In some example embodiments, there may be provided a method that includes receiving, at a user equipment, an indication for controlling whether the user equipment makes an emergency call over a fifth generation radio access technology or over another radio access technology as a fallback; and making, by the user equipment, the emergency call based on the received indication. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.
Abstract:
Various communication systems may benefit from being able to communicate without requiring certain identifiers to be assigned. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from machine type communication using mobile originated short messaging service without a mobile station international subscriber directory number. A method can include preparing, at a user equipment, a mobile originated short message service message. The method can also include identifying, in the message, a particular external identifier from a set of external identifiers assigned to an application.
Abstract:
Notifying an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) that user equipment (UE) is operating in a mode where it cannot be reached may be useful in various communication systems. For example, an IMS may receive a notification that a UE is operating in coverage enhancement (CE) mode B, extended discontinuous reception (eDRx), and/or a power-saving mode. A method may comprise receiving, at a network entity, one or more failure indications; mapping, by the network entity, the failure indications to one or more rejection reason codes, wherein the one or more rejection reason codes indicate that a user equipment is unavailable; and transmitting, from the network entity, the one or more rejection reason codes to a network application function to temporarily suspend further attempts by the network application function to contact the user equipment, adjust a re-transmission timer in IMS to a greater value, and/or set a time to re-connect.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for supporting local MBMS distribution are provided. One method includes receiving, by a broadcast multicast service center (BM-SC), an activate multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) bearer request message to initiate an activate multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) bearer request procedure. The activate MBMS bearer request message comprises at least one of information on local MBMS distribution received from a local MBMS entity (LME), or a destination area, or a destination area and an indication that preferred delivery is via local distribution. The method may further include determining whether local distribution path will be used based on at least one of information received in the activate MBMS bearer request message, or stored information about local MBMS entities.
Abstract:
Communication systems may benefit from various aspects of emergency call handing. For example, wireless communication systems may benefit from clean up with respect to a fast return feature applied to an emergency call using circuit switched fallback, without a location area update. A method may include identifying an emergency communication that is a circuit switched fallback communication of a user equipment. The method may also include configuring communications so that mobile terminated services work properly after completion of the emergency communication. More particularly, for example, a method may include determining in a network element that the emergency communication is a circuit switched fallback communication. The method may also include, when the emergency call is ended, avoiding invoking a fast return feature for the user equipment.
Abstract:
A UE activates a PS Data Off service to block downlink and uplink services except the exempted services determined by the HPLMN. To activate PS Data Off, the UE sends an indication to the MME or SGSN, or additionally to a S-CSCF or an IMS network. The UE may receive a confirmation of the PS Data Off activation and/or a list of exempt services. The MME may contact the HSS to notify about the activation of the PS Data Off and receive indication of support of the service or list of exempted services and send the indication and/or packet filtering per PDN to PDN GW(s). The PDN GW may contact a PCRF to get policy rules. The HSS may provide a list of exempt services to the S-CSCF.
Abstract:
An example technique is provided for receiving, by a base station in a wireless network, a priority map that indicates a mapping of a first set of priority classes for one or more radio bearers provided between the base station and a relay user device and a second set of priority classes for one or more proximity services (ProSe) sidelink logical channels provided between the relay user device and a remote user device, and allocating (or scheduling), by the base station based on the priority map, wireless resources to the relay user device to transmit data to the remote user device for one or more of the ProSe sidelink logical channels.
Abstract:
Various communication systems may benefit from improved signaling. For example, certain communication systems may benefit from improved signaling before network access is revoked through a citizens broadband radio service. A method may include receiving at a network entity from a citizens broadband radio service device a warning message. The warning message may include a drop time after which communication between a network and a user equipment using the citizens broadband radio service will terminate. The method may also include triggering the performing of an action based on the warning message by the network before the drop time.
Abstract:
Various communication systems may benefit from improved voice call support. For example, it may be helpful for a user equipment in a first radio access technology that may not support voice calls to initiate a voice call with a second radio access technology. A method includes initiating a voice call between a user equipment to an entity in a second radio access technology cell. The user equipment is located in a first radio access technology cell. The method also includes registering the user equipment with the second radio access technology cell. In addition, the method includes conducting the voice call with the entity via the second radio access technology cell.
Abstract:
Various communication systems may benefit from a dynamic streaming service. For example, certain streaming services may benefit from an improvement in the switching between broadcast delivery and unicast delivery for a streaming service in a cellular system. A method includes receiving information about a streaming service. The method also includes determining by a network entity in a radio access network whether to deliver data for the streaming service via multimedia broadcast or unicast based on the information and predetermined criteria for evaluating the information. In addition, the method includes triggering a sending of the data via the multimedia broadcast or the unicast.
