摘要： A system and method for building, maintaining and verifying an ontology are disclosed. The ontology may be build based on a meronymy and a taxonomy. In one example, the generated ontology may be an automotive mechanical systems ontology and the meronymy is a vehicle systems meronymy and the taxonomy is a universal parts taxonomy. The system may utilize consistent lexical derivation of the elements in the generated taxonomy.
