    Abstract: A nuclear fusion apparatus and method including a nuclear fusion device for producing nuclear fusion reactions, a source of energy, an energy conveying device for conveying energy from an energy source to the fusion device, and an outer chamber arranged for receiving heat from the nuclear fusion apparatus. The outer chamber contains a fluid positioned for absorbing heat from the nuclear fusion device, source of energy, and energy conveying device. An inner chamber is filled with fluid and provide thermal conductivity and electrical insulation between differing parts of the fusion generator apparatus. An energy conversion device can be connected with the nuclear fusion apparatus and positioned such that the portion of the energy conversion device having elevated temperatures recycle their heat into the nuclear fusion apparatus.

    Abstract: A soft x-ray generator includes a unique pulse trigger assembly which reliably and reproducibly provides a plasma to initiate the discharge between a cathode and an anode, and having a cone-shaped geometry. The soft x-ray generator of the present invention also includes a rotating anode which is generally disk-shaped with an outer circumferential edge which can be rotated with respect to the cathode to expose different sections of the anode to the plasma discharge, thereby reducing anode wear and providing longer term operation. Anode erosion is also reduced by the liquid cooling of the anode during use. The generator utilizes a relatively low capacitance for the cathode-to-anode discharge and a relatively high voltage and pulse repetition rate (frequency) to achieve continuous reproducible results.

    Abstract: The invention provides an energy conversion apparatus which can convert the heat energy stored in a fluid into mechanical work whereby heat which would otherwise be lost from the apparatus is retained within the apparatus providing the opportunity of using heat from the fluid which may not be used in energy conversion in the first pass through the apparatus to be reused in another pass through the apparatus or for some other purpose. The principles of this arrangement may be applied to any power generating plant, including but not limited to one whose energy source is a fusion device. Advantageously, this arrangement can considerably advance the objective of achieving breakeven point when applied to a fusion reactor.
