Abstract: A filter assembly (2) is disclosed which comprises a filter element (200) for filtering a fluid, and a mount (6) having at least one port (24, 26), Each of the filter element (200) and the mount (6) has interengaging connection formations (120, 230) by which the filter element and the mount can be detachably connected to one another. The mount (6) defines a flow path for fluid to flow between the port (24, 26) and the filter element (200) when the filter element is connected to the mount. The mount (6) includes a link element (104) which can slide relative to the mount between a retracted position and a deployed position. The link element (104) has one of a lug (140) and an inclined ramp surface (212) which is arranged around an axis of the assembly, and the filter element (200) has the other of the lug and the inclined ramp surface. The lug (140) and the ramp surface (212) form a cam drive in which the lug is capable of engaging the inclined ramp surface as the filter element (200) and the mount (6) are brought together for assembly, and of sliding along the inclined ramp surface when the filter element is rotated relative to the mount to cause the link element (104) to be drawn out of the mount towards its deployed position.
