Abstract: A package comprises an upper substantially rigid package portion (200;300) made from a plastics material having a thickness of at least 250 µm and a lower package potion (100) made essentially from aluminium. The upper and lower package portions are joined by heat­-sealing in a region of overlap between the parts. One of the package portions (100;200;300) is provided with a heat-seal medium, such as a heat-seal lacquer or hot melt, in the region of overlap. As the lower package portion (100) is made from aluminium, a food product contained in the package may be prepared in a conventional oven directly in the lower package portion (100), once the upper package portion (200;300) has been removed.
