Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and method for automatic communication mode selection. The method may include detecting a communication by a user equipment. The method may also include determining one or more characteristics associated with the communication, wherein the one or more characteristics comprise user environmental data, public environmental data, or a combination thereof associated with the communication. Furthermore, the method may include selecting a mode for the communication that is different from an original mode of the detected communication based on the one or more characteristics
Abstract:
Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for determining a flight route for a flight of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are presented. The flight-specific route for the UAV is determined dynamically during the flight or in advance before the flight, using navigation assistance data that includes flight-specific navigation assistance data for a plurality of geographic zones determined based on flight-specific information. The flight-specific navigation assistance data includes flight-specific ranking data for the plurality of geographic zones that can be used by the UAV or a server to determine the flight route.
Abstract:
A method of associating environmental context with wireless access points is disclosed. In some embodiments, a method on a user equipment may comprise determining at least one environmental context associated with a subset of one or more Access Points (APs) visible to the UE at an estimated location of the UE. The at least one environmental context associated with the subset may be determined based on one or more of wireless measurements by the UE, and/or sensor measurements by the UE. Further, at least one AP cluster may be determined by clustering the subset of the one or more APs visible to the UE based on the at least one environmental context and the estimated location. Environmental context for APs may be crowdsourced and stored and provided to a UE as location assistance information to facilitate location determination and other functions.
Abstract:
Disclosed are devices, systems and methods for combining observations obtained at two different mobile devices (104-1t1, 104-1t2, 104-1t3) attached to a human user (200) for performing a navigation operation. For example, observations of a signal acquired at a first mobile device may be selected for computing a positon fix based, at least in part, on a utility indicator associated with the observations.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and devices are disclosed that may be used to estimate a location of a mobile device using, for example, one more receiver gains that may bring about adjustment of received signal strength indications of a radio heatmap. Such adjustment may allow a mobile device to accurately estimate a present location of a mobile device using, for example, a radio heatmap.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and systems are described for using multiple measurements including Doppler measurements from a mobile device to identify the position of the base station. Repeated Doppler and velocity measurements from different locations, with measurement groups taken at the same time or within a certain time frame, may be used to identify the location of a base station with which the mobile device is communicating.
Abstract:
Various methods, apparatuses and articles of manufacture are provided for use by one or more electronic devices to detect and/or respond to certain changes (anomalies) within a wireless signaling environment. For example, a first electronic device may receive a report of a threshold anomaly detected by a monitoring device deployed at a fixed predetermined position within a coverage area of a network service device, and may initiate an investigation by requesting that a second electronic device attempt to monitor certain transmissions of and/or actively communicate with a network service device. In response to a determination based, at least in part, on the investigation that the threshold anomaly represents a threshold change in status within the wireless signaling environment, the first electronic device may transmit a status report regarding the wireless signaling environment to another electronic device.
Abstract:
Method, apparatus and computer program product for monitoring wireless wide area network almanac integrity in a wireless wide area network are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving, at a WWAN Alamanac Server (180), crowdsourcing data from a plurality of mobile devices (15a, 15b,...), determining, by the server, a change to a wireless wide area network almanac using the crowdsourcing data, and updating a database(190) in accordance with the change to the wireless wide area network almanac.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus and methods for a mobile device (MS) and a base station (BS) almanac server to throttle crowdsourcing information are presented. The crowdsourcing information is used to improve a location of a base station in a base station almanac. A portion of the base station almanac is provided to a mobile device. For example, the mobile device may identify its current cell and request the base station almanac. The mobile device records crowdsourcing information to identify, for each particular base station of at least one base station, a cellular identifier for the particular base station, optional ranging information between the particular base station and the mobile device, and an independent position of the mobile device. The independent position of the mobile device may be formed from global navigation satellite system GNSS or station signals independent of the at least one base station.
Abstract:
A method for providing tiered indoor positioning service includes: receiving a request for assistance data from a mobile device; receiving expected quality of service information from the mobile device; generating an adaptive assistance data file comprising heat map data based at least in part on the received expected quality of service information; and transmitting the adaptive assistance data file to the mobile device.
