Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of cerium (III) carbonate particles having a z-average particle size in the range of from 5 nm to 500 nm, which composition further comprises a capping ligand. The composition is useful as an additive in formulations that contain polymer, pigments, dyes, or tints, or a combination thereof, to promote color retention and attenuate unwanted color formation in coatings formed from these formulations.
