Abstract: Wave powered water desalination systems including a rotary crankshaft, a mooring spool coupled with the rotary crankshaft, at least four cylinders connected to the rotary crankshaft, wherein each of the at least four cylinders includes an inlet port for receiving salinized water and an outlet port for providing pressurized salinized water, and a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane component including a housing and a RO membrane, wherein a first side of the RO membrane component is connected to the outlet ports of the at least four cylinders. In use, with the mooring spool attached to an anchor on a seabed or to a surge flap, an oscillatory force of around 4-60 rpm is applied to the rotary crankshaft via the mooring spool, and pressurize salinized water at about 800 psi or greater is provided via the outlet ports to the RO membrane component from the at least four cylinders.

Abstract: The invention provides compositions and methods for treatment of melanoma and other cancers. In particular, the invention provides a single or double-stranded nucleic acid that inhibits a certain group of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) that have been discovered to be associated with melanoma. Inhibition of these lncRNAs in melanoma cells and xenograft mouse models leads to inhibition of cell proliferation, induction of apoptosis, and reduced cancer cell growth. The invention also relates to a method of inhibiting cancer cell growth with specific kinase inhibitors that have been found to show similar inhibition effects as the nucleic acids targeting the lncRNAs. The single or double-stranded nucleic acid and the specific kinase inhibitors constitute a novel therapeutic strategy in the treatment of melanoma and other cancers.

Abstract: Compositions and methods are provided for treating lymphoma in an individual by targeting engineered phagocytes to lymphoma cells. In particular, the phagocytes provided for administration to an individual, who has lymphoma, are engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically binds to an antigen present on lymphoma cells. The CAR localizes the engineered phagocytes to sites where lymphoma cells are present. In some embodiments, phagocytic activity of the phagocytes is enhanced by further engineering the phagocytes to express a hyperactive Rac GTPase.

Abstract: In accordance with a method for performing frequency subchannelization, a digital signal is received at an original sampling rate. A plurality of multirate frequency channels is produced by dividing the digital signal into an integer number of multirate frequency channels such that a sampling rate of each of the multirate frequency channels is proportional to a center frequency of the frequency channel. Abstract: The art does not provide systematic and reproducible methods to personalize dosing of multiple immunosuppressive medications after transplantation. This invention provides a method to systematize multi -drug immunosuppression management in tissue and organ transplantation using an artificial intelligence-based complex systems approach. In embodiments of this invention, immunosuppression drug dose, blood drug concentrations, donor-derived fraction of cell free DNA (dd-cfDNA%), and aspartate aminotransferase are used to indicate allograft status or a proxy for allograft status, to generate a phenotypic response surface to produce individual treatment modalities and dosages using empirically determined unique coefficients. This surface is used to calculate appropriate immunosuppression drug doses associated with the desired outcome for that patient. Embodiments of this disclosure are directed to identifying optimized combinations of inputs for the complex system of the immunosuppressed transplant patient in order to avoid transplant rejection while avoiding unnecessary toxicity and maintaining a robust enough immune response to fight infection.
