Abstract:
Methods and systems for a media guidance application that may enhance viewer experience. The media guidance application may tune to a first program with a first tuner and generate for display the first program on a display area of a display device, determine other programs of interest being broadcast, and simultaneously with the generating for display of the first program, use the second tuner to tune to and generate for display the other programs of interest being broadcast. The second tuner cycles between the additional programs of interest to periodically update the segments of the additional programs of interest generated for display.
Abstract:
The methods and systems described herein re-order social media feed items. In one example, the methods and systems receive on a user device social media feed items having a defined sequential order for display in a social media feed. The methods and systems also detect an occurrence of a triggering event and in response to the detection, reorder one or more of the social media feed items in a new order for display. The methods and systems further generate for display the one or more social media feed items in the social media feed in the new order.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are described for learning which content segments may be complex and providing enhanced content with playback of those complex segments. A complexity engine accesses content, the content includes a plurality of ordered segments and each of the plurality of segments associated with a complexity score. The complexity engine provides each of the plurality of ordered segments of the content for consumption. After receiving input that identifies a first segment of the plurality of segments as complex, the complexity engine calculates a comprehension threshold based on the complexity score associated with the first segment. While further providing content segments, the complexity engine identifies a subsequent segment where the complexity score is greater than or equal to the comprehension threshold. The complexity engine provides corresponding enhanced content with the subsequent segment.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described herein for a media guidance application on a first device that detects a user's engagement with a second media asset on second device, and alerts the user to an important event in a first media asset presented on the first device, thereby reminding the user to view the first media asset. The media guidance application may determine when the next important event will occur in the media asset and determine an estimated amount of time required to play back the second media asset. The media guidance application may adjust the estimated amount of time based on advertisements and network conditions at the second device. If the media guidance application determines that the estimated amount of time is longer than the amount of time before the next important event in the first media asset, the media guidance application may generate an alert on the second device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided herein for indicating an amount of available storage space. To this end, the systems and methods monitor storage space associated with a media storage device to determine whether an amount of storage space available is less than a threshold. In response to determining the amount of storage space available is less than the threshold, the systems and methods enter a deletion mode. Systems and methods monitor user interactions between a user and a user device after entering the deletion mode. Systems and methods further generate for display a notification at an appropriate time, based on the monitored user interactions, to indicate the amount of storage space available to the user.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided herein for including supplemental content with segments based on the complexity of the segment. This may be accomplished by a system receiving complexity information related to a media asset and user information related to a viewer to determine if one or more segments of the media asset is complex for the user. If the system receives a trick play command, from the user, during a segment categorized as complex, the system can use the complexity information and user information to generate supplemental content, facilitating better user understanding of the complex segment.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for generating for display identified supplemental content relevant to metadata of a particular scene of a media asset. The systems and methods may identify metadata of the media asset corresponding to the time of the particular scene, identify supplemental content relevant to the metadata of the particular scene, and determine the particular scene of the media asset has concluded. In response to determining the particular scene of the media asset has concluded, the identified supplemental content relevant to the metadata of the particular scene may be generated for display.
Abstract:
Presentation of content on a display device is adaptively modified based on the apparent size of a content area in which the content is presented. A distance between the first user and the display device is determined, as well as an actual size of the content area in which the content is being presented. Based on the distance and the actual size of the content area, an apparent size of the content area is calculated, and presentation of the content is modified based on the apparent size of the content area.

Abstract:
Systems and methods are described herein for generating a timeline of media assets on a media guidance application that dynamically adjusts the timeline of related media assets associated with the media asset selected by a user, by comparing keywords. In another embodiment, the systems and methods are described for masking portions of headline of the media asset for increasing interests in selecting the media asset.
