Abstract:
A polymer composition includes a polymer component including a pre-dynamic cross- linked polymer composition that includes polyester chains joined by a coupler component; and one or more non-networking flame retardant additives. A method of preparing a dynamic cross- linked polymer composition includes: reacting a coupler component including at least two epoxy groups and a chain component including a polyester; and adding one or more non-networking flame retardant additives. The reaction is performed under such conditions to form a pre- dynamic cross-linked composition, and is performed in the presence of at least one catalyst that promotes the formation of the pre-dynamic cross-linked composition. The pre-dynamic cross- linked composition when subjected to a curing process exhibits particular plateau modulus and internal residual stress relaxation properties.
Abstract:
Disclosed are plastic compositions for use in forming plastic-metal hybrid materials, the compositions including an epoxy compound. Also provided are plastic-metal hybrid materials that are formed using the inventive plastic compositions, methods for forming such materials, and electronic devices that include the hybrid materials. The plastic compositions confer beneficial bonding strength with the metal partner of a hybrid material, good impact strength, and low color change following anodization, and retain these favorable characteristics under a range of processing conditions.
Abstract:
Provided are articles having a cellular structure and also having improved aging performance under certain types of illumination. Also provided are methods of utilizing the disclosed articles.
Abstract:
Provided are pre-dynamically cross-linked compositions including a networking additive including a flame retardant species. Specifically, such compositions include a polymer component including a pre-dynamic cross-linked polymer composition. The pre-dynamic polymer composition includes polyester component chains joined by a coupler component, the coupler component including a flame retardant species. A method of preparing a dynamic cross-linked polymer composition includes: reacting a coupler component including at least two reactive groups and a flame retardant species with a chain component including a polyester. The reacting is performed under such conditions so as to form a pre-dynamic cross-linked composition, and is performed in the presence of at least one catalyst that promotes formation of the pre-dynamic cross-linked composition. The pre-dynamic cross-linked composition, when subjected to a curing process, exhibits certain plateau modulus characteristics and has the capability of relaxing internal residual stresses.
