A method and an apparatus for controlling indoor devices based on the use histories of the indoor devices are provided. The method includes receiving, when an indoor device operates with a first setting value, a first bodily feeling level selected by a first user among a plurality of bodily feeling levels, determining a second setting value matching a second bodily feeling level among the plurality of bodily feeling levels based on the first bodily feeling level, indoor environment information, and use history information on a control made, by a second user, to homogeneous devices of the indoor device, and controlling the indoor device to operate with the second setting value. The present disclosure relates to the sensor network, Machine to Machine (M2M), Machine Type Communication (MTC), and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. The present disclosure can be applied to intelligent services (such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, health care, digital education, retail business, and security and safety service).
Abstract:
A method for managing an air conditioner is provided. The method includes determining a power consumption pattern of the air conditioner while controlling the air conditioner, based on at least one power consumption factor; calculating a threshold value of power consumption according to an operating time of the air conditioner based on distribution information of the determined power consumption pattern; determining whether a current power consumption is within a threshold value range of the calculated threshold value of power consumption; and generating and transmitting a signal to a manager server if the current power consumption is not within the threshold value range. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the above technologies, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A communication apparatus performs a method for determining a user's presence in a specific space. In the method, the apparatus receives a first signal from a first sensor and identifies a user access direction, based on the received first signal. Then, the apparatus selects a second sensor, based on the identified user access direction, receives a second signal from the selected second sensor, and determines whether a user enters in the specific space, based on the received second signal.

A method and device for controlling room temperature and relative humidity to which to set a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system are provided. The method for controlling temperature and humidity by a temperature and humidity control device includes acquiring at least one piece of environmental information and user biometric information, determining, based on the acquired at least one piece of the environmental information and the user biometric information, control information that determines statistical information to be within a certain range, and controlling an HVAC system based on the determined control information. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a comfortable environment to a user and save energy while maintaining comfort. An example method for determining, at an electronic device, a presence or absence of the electronic device in a specific space may include estimating a current location based on strength of signals received from a plurality of wireless communication devices; correcting the estimated location by using movement information acquired through a sensor to generate a first corrected location; correcting the first corrected location by using information about a boundary area of a predefined presence determination area to generate a second corrected location; and determining the presence or absence in the presence determination area, based on the second corrected location.

A method and an apparatus for controlling a temperature based on scheduling of an indoor temperature are provided. The apparatus obtains set temperature history information of an air handling unit from previously stored information. The set temperature history information is mapped to weather factor history information about at least one weather factor. The apparatus also obtains weather factor information regarding a scheduling target time. Based on the obtained set temperature history information and the obtained weather factor information, the apparatus schedules a set temperature of the air handling unit with regard to the scheduling target time.
