Abstract:
Apparatus, methods, and systems are provided for separating substances from a container or body of fluid. The apparatus comprises a body containing a flow-through passageway adapted to attach to the flow-through passageway; an assembly adapted to selectively seal the flow through passageway; and a reservoir in communication with flow-through passageway; wherein the reservoir is configured to cause the assembly to unseal the flow-through passageway when the reservoir is attached to the flow-through passageway
Abstract:
Apparatus, methods, and systems are provided for venting gases and removing sediment from a liquid comprising a body containing a flow through passageway running from a top end of the body to a bottom end of the body, adapted to sealably attach to an opening of a liquid container at a top end; a substantially annular secondary valve positioned within the flow through passageway adapted to selectively seal flow around the outside of the secondary valve; a primary valve contained within the secondary valve configured to selectively seal flow through a tubular shaft formed down an axis of the primary valve; an air breather valve attached to the body adapted to selectively seal an air vent formed in the body, wherein the air breather valve is attached to the body such that liquid leakage from the air vent is minimized; and a reservoir adapted to sealably engage to the bottom end of the body; wherein the reservoir is configured to cause the primary valve to unseal flow through the tubular shaft when the reservoir is at least partially engaged to the body, and wherein the reservoir is configured to unseal flow around the outside of the secondary valve when the reservoir is fully engaged to the body.
Abstract:
A sediment removal assembly (10) is provided for removal of sediment (110) in a container (100). The assembly has a container seal (12) for sealing an opening (114) to the container. The container seal is formed with a seal body (14) with a flow through passageway (20) between opposite ends of the seal body, and a valve arrangement (26) with a valve member (34) normally spring biassed to close said passageway. One end of said seal body is adapted to sealingly engage said container at an opening thereof to close the opening. The assembly also has a sediment reservoir (40) adapted for removable sealing engagement with the opposite end of the seal body and in communication with the flow through passageway so that upon opening the valve member a predetermined amount of liquid may flow through the flow through passageway from the container into the reservoir and any sediment may be delivered gravitationally into the reservoir for accumulation of sediment in the reservoir and removal thereof from the container after the flow through passageway is closed. The reservoir may have a valve actuator (52)adapted to automatically actuate the valve member as it is being applied to engage the valve body to an open position.
