Abstract:
A refractory-clad tapping channel (20) opens into a melting chamber (10) of a metallurgical furnace vessel (2) in order to remove liquid metal (8). Said channel comprises an entry opening (22) arranged above the base (14) of the melting chamber (10), in a balcony (26) embodied as a niche or recess in an inner wall of the melting chamber, said balcony opening into the melting chamber (10) and forming a shoulder in relation to the base (14). With an assembly of this type, while maintaining high volumes of the residual liquid pool, it is also possible to fill in the tapping channel (20) with a refractory material after removing the liquid metal (8), when the furnace vessel (2) is in a horizontal starting position.
