Abstract:
A refractory-clad tapping channel (20) opens into a melting chamber (10) of a metallurgical furnace vessel (2) in order to remove liquid metal (8). Said channel comprises an entry opening (22) arranged above the base (14) of the melting chamber (10), in a balcony (26) embodied as a niche or recess in an inner wall of the melting chamber, said balcony opening into the melting chamber (10) and forming a shoulder in relation to the base (14). With an assembly of this type, while maintaining high volumes of the residual liquid pool, it is also possible to fill in the tapping channel (20) with a refractory material after removing the liquid metal (8), when the furnace vessel (2) is in a horizontal starting position.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition of plastic refractory material intended for stopping-in tapholes of blast furnaces intended for molten iron production. The nature of the invention lies in an appropriate composition of material made by grogs of refractory shales and silica sand, additives enhancing resistance to molten metals, plasticizers of clay and resins. An appropriate proportion of refractory grogs, clays, carbon additives is mixed with an appropriate proportion of Novolak and Phenolic - resol resin in a mixer and by shaping homogenous mass to loaves under vacuum, when loaf bulk density of about 2,100 kg.m'3 is reached. Mixing time is controlled in dependence on temperature of mass mixed and must not exceed 40 °C. According to the invention, mass compaction occurs, e.g. at pressure 8 MPa per loaf surface of e.g. 250 x 120 mm. When designing mass composition for a final customer, it is possible to select an appropriate proportion, combination of synthetic resins of the Novolak and resol type, in order to obtain technological effect required for its application.
Abstract:

The composition according to the invention comprises: aluminum nitride (AlN) in a proportion of between 10 wt % and 40 wt %; one or more metal oxide substances in a proportion of at least 2 wt % up to 10 wt %, of which at least one comes from the group comprising aluminum oxide, zircon oxide, and LD converter dust; inorganic binder in a proportion of up to 70 wt %, wherein the percentages by weight are based on the total weight of the composition. The invention further relates to a suspension based on the composition and to the use of the composition or the composition suspension for coating machine parts used for producing raw iron or steel.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for preventing slag from flowing along when tapping a molten metal out of a metallurgical vessel, whereby the tap opening of the vessel is formed out of interchangeable pipes, which are located one above the other, made of wear-resistant refractory material, and enclosed by tap framing blocks, whereby the lower end of the tap interchangeable system, which is constructed as described, is formed by a cup block against which a slide that closes the opening rests. According to the invention, axially extending channels that are open at both ends of the pipe are provided in the pipe wall of at least the interchangeable pipe that leads into the interior of the vessel. Said channels are connected to a gas supply at the pipe end facing away from the interior of the vessel.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for thermally repairing an outlet (2) of a metallurgical vessel, using a closure device (4) of the outlet (2). A closure element (9) of said closure device can be displaced transversely to and against the direction of the melt which flows through the outlet. The closure element carries a plastic, elastic, pasty, dough-like or ductile surface layer (10) which, during the closing of the outlet by pressure, can be bent against or is brought into contact with the edge (2') of the outlet area, in order to thus compensate for operational changes in the outlet area.
Abstract:
A method for automatically controlling an opener holding a drill rod by exerting an impact on or by rotating the opener and by moving back and forth the opener by means of a feed motor hydraulically driven so as to open an iron notch comprises a step of measuring the feed load by using a measured hydraulic pressure, a step of stopping the feed when the measured hydraulic pressure reaches a preset upper limit at which buckling occurs and continuing only the rotation, and a step of resuming the feed when the measured hydraulic pressure decreases below a preset lower limit. Buckling and idle impact of the drill rod of the opener are prevented. Therefore the opening work is quickly done, the precision of the depth of the iron notch is improved, and the opening work is automated and remotely controlled.
Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to provide a method for sealing a tap hole (2) in metallurgical containers and a tapping system for carrying out slag-free tapping. To this end, the bott for closing the tap hole comprises a bott sleeve (7) which receives a heat-resistant flowable material (8). The time at which the bott sleeve is inserted is controlled automatically. After the bott sleeve has been introduced, the tap hole is closed from the outside of the container. The material from which the bott sleeve is made changes in its consistency and/or form under the influence of temperature, in such a way that the flowable material spreads in the tap hole, hereby sealing it.
