Abstract: The present invention relates to a secondary battery comprising a) a negative electrode comprising an alkali metal; b) a protective layer on a surface of the negative electrode; and c) a liquid electrolyte comprising a solvent mixture and at least one metal salt, wherein the protective layer comprises at least one (per)fluoroelastomer, and the solvent mixture comprises i) at least one fluorinated ether compound and ii) at least one non-fluorinated ether compound.
