Abstract: A seal for a cross member unit 5 for universal joints 1, 1 ', comprises a carrier ring 34 to be inserted into a bearing cup 9 of the cross member unit 5, said carrier ring 34 having an L-shaped cross section with a cylindrical portion 35 coaxial to a longitudinal axis 7 and a flange portion 37 extending form the cylindrical portion 35 inwardly, and an elastomeric sealing lip element 30 connected to the carrier ring 34.
