The invention relates to a method in an arrangement of a communication network, controlling a chain of functions for processing data packets of a flow associated with a device. The method comprises obtaining (610) an indication indicating that information associated with a context of at least one of the functions has been altered. The context is related to the flow and at least one of the communication network, the device, a route of the flow, and a source instance of each of the at least one function. The method further comprises determining (620) to relocate the at least one function for processing the data packets from the respective source instance to a respective target instance based on the obtained indication. The method also comprises relocating (630) the at least one function for processing the data packets to the respective target instance.
Abstract:
In a communication system including mobile terminals and different wireless networks the mobile terminals can estimate the speed with which the mobile terminals move and communicate estimated values of the speed to a selection function (17) selecting one of the wireless networks communicating information from and to the respective mobile terminal. In the estimating, first estimated speeds and/or positions of a mobile terminal are determined (11) particularly for each of the wireless networks, from the communication with the particular wireless network. Then the estimated values are by special interfaces (11) input to a different speed estimation function (15) in which a combined value of the speed of the mobile terminal is calculated, according to a speed estimation algorithm and is input to the selection function. In this speed estimation also a recommended one of the wireless networks can be determined. The functions for estimating the speed are divided between a network layer (L3) and lower layers (L2, L1).

Methods and apparatus are provided for establishing a unicast D2D communication link between a requesting UE and a remote UE via a relay UE. In one embodiment, a procedure is provided for unicast link establishment with a remote UE without relay discovery. In another embodiment, a procedure is provided for unicast link establishment with a remote UE with relay discovery.

A method performed by a network node is disclosed for routing packets in a telecommunications network. The method includes receiving a buffer creation message to create a first buffer and to install a first buffer flow rule associated with the first buffer. When a packet is received, the packet is stored in the first buffer associated with the first buffer flow rule, if fields of the packet header are being among the set of the one or more header fields of the first buffer flow rule. The method includes determining that the packet is an unmatched packet if no combination of fields of the packet header satisfy fiow rules currently associated with the network node. An unmatched packet is stored in a second buffer. The method includes transmitting the packet if the combination of fields of the packet header satisfy flow rules other than the first buffer flow rule.

The invention relates to a method in an arrangement of a communication network, controlling a function for processing data packets of a flow associated with a device. The method comprises determining (610) to relocate the function for processing the data packets from a source instance to a target instance for the device, controlling (620) transmission of an instruction to the source instance to relocate the function for processing the data packets to the target instance, and controlling (630) an update of a switching element in a chain of functions for processing the data packets of the flow comprising said function. The switching element affects the routing of the data packets of the flow in the chain. The switching element is updated with information related to the relocated function. The invention also relates to a method performed by the source instance and to the arrangement and the source instance.

An IPv6 mobile node is described herein that compresses a packet such that the compressed packet which includes an outer IP header, a compressed inner IP header and data can be sent within a bi-directional tunnel via one or more IP networks to a remote device (e.g., home agent, correspondent node, another mobile node) . The IPv6 mobile node can also compress the outer IP header in the packet in addition to compressing the inner IP header if it is located in a wireless access network. The remote device can compress the packet in the same manner and send it to the IPv6 mobile node.
Abstract:
It is provided a method for assisting preloading of a location of a wireless device in a mobile communication network. The method is performed in a communication tracker and comprises the steps of: receiving an uplink packet originating from the wireless device, the uplink packet comprising a source address and a destination address; determining whether a connection database comprises a matching entry corresponding to both the source address and the destination address; transmitting a new connection message when there is no matching entry in the connection database; and storing a new entry in the connection database, the new entry comprising both the source address and the destination address when there is no matching entry in the connection database.

The invention relates to a method for enabling relocation of a function for processing data packets of a flow associated with a device. The method is performed in an arrangement of a communication system, which is allocated as a proxy for control messages exchanged between an instance of the function for processing the data packets of the flow and a control instance controlling how the function processes the data packets of the flow. The method comprises obtaining (920) information indicating that the function for processing the data packets is relocated from a first instance to a second instance. The method further comprises forwarding (930) control messages received from the control instance to the second instance of the function for processing the data packets and vice versa, in response to the obtained information.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for use in a communications network in which a Mobile Node accesses the communications network via a proxy node. The proxy node is arranged to handle mobility signalling on behalf of the Mobile Node. At a mobility anchor function, such as a Local Mobility Anchor, a first Care-of-Address associated with the Mobile Node is registered. When the mobility anchor function receives a registration request to register a second Care-of-Address associated with the Mobile Node, it sends a request message to the proxy node acting on behalf of the Mobile Node. The request message instructs the proxy node to check whether the Mobile Node is reachable using the first Care-of-Address.
