Abstract:
The present invention provides a three-dimensional, macroscopically expanded, apertured, laminate web suitable for use as a topsheet on an absorbent article and a method for making the same. The web includes a first layer of substantially transparent, polymeric material having an inner surface and an outer surface. A nonwoven web is secured to the inner surface of the substantially transparent polymeric material and is visible through the substantially transparent polymeric material. The presence of the nonwoven web creates the appearance of a fibrous web which is perceived as soft and skin friendly while still maintaining the fluid transport benefits of prior art plastic webs.
Abstract:
An absorbent article comprises a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, the chassis having a body-facing surface and an outer-facing surface. The article also comprises a pair of side flaps comprising a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and a first adhesive. The side flaps have a proximal end and a free distal end wherein each distal end is foldable around an edge of an undergarment when applied on the undergarment during use to attach the first adhesive to the underside of the undergarment thereby attaching the absorbent article to the undergarment. Each of the side flaps is formed discretely to the chassis and is bonded at the proximal end by the first surface to the body facing surface of the chassis at a joint, and each side flap extends inwards from the joint in a lateral direction of the absorbent article with the first surface facing the top sheet of the absorbent article and each side flap is extensible. A process for preparing the absorbent article is also described.
Abstract:
A disposable absorbent article having a chassis defining a front waist region, a rear waist region, and a crotch region disposed between the front waist region and rear waist region. The article includes a topsheet, an outer cover, and a core assembly disposed therebetween. The article further includes an anchoring system that includes an anchoring band, which may assume the form of a circumferential anchoring member that is configured to engage the wearer's body. The anchoring system further includes a load distribution element connected between the core assembly and the anchoring band to transfer load forces from the core to the wearer's body through the anchoring band.
Abstract:
A disposable absorbent article has a front waist edge, a back waist edge, a topsheet, a backsheet attached to at least a portion of the topsheet, and an absorbent core disposed therebetween. A waist member is attached to a wearer-facing surface of the disposable absorbent article or between the topsheet and the backsheet adjacent to the front waist edge and the back waist edge. The waist member is unattached to an outer- facing surface of the disposable absorbent article. The waist member extends outward from the front waist edge and the back waist edge such that at least a region of the waist member is visible from a vantage point external to the disposable absorbent article, thereby providing the appearance of a finished front waist edge or the appearance of a finished back waist edge.
Abstract:
Disposable pant like garments are disclosed. Pant like garments of the present invention generally comprise a main absorbent portion and a pair of side portions. One or more sections of the pant-like garments are provided with one or more cohesive areas which allow for cohesive fastening and refastening of portions of the garment. The cohesives chosen may have the same properties or may be of the selective adhesive type. Pant like garments may be provided with cohesive fasteners and not other types of refastening means. In other variations, cohesive fasteners may be supplemented with one or more frangible bonds. Also disclosed are side portions having cohesive areas which may be converted in use from an abutting facing relationship to an overlapping facing relationship. Multiple cohesive areas of varying types for providing differential bond properties during use are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Absorbent article having a containment assembly and leg openings, the margins of which may be highly elastically extensible. The absorbent article may also have outer leg cuffs providing a finished appearance. The absorbent article may thus provide ease of application and removal, sustained dynamic fit, prevention of leakage, sustained wearer comfort, and desirable appearance.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for making laminate materials (40), and more particularly the present invention relates to a method for making laminate materials (40) having a capillary zone or passageway to acquire, move and/or store fluid within the laminate material (40). Such laminate materials (40) are particularly suitable for use as a topsheet, an acquisition layer and/or an absorbent core in absorbent articles such as disposable diapers, catamenials, sanitary napkins, bandages, incontinent briefs and the like.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a resilient, fluid-pervious, laminate, plastic web suitable for use as a topsheet on absorbent articles, especially catamenial articles. The web includes a first layer of polymeric material, a second layer of polymeric material and an intermediate layer of fibrous material. The fibrous material of the intermediate layer extends below the second surface of the web, preferably into the absorbent core. In-use, fluid deposited on the topsheet drains or empties more readily as the fibrous material of the intermediate layer breaks up the fluid meniscuses which form along the second surface of the web, thereby providing improved dryness and cleanliness for the user.
Abstract:
A durable underwear brief panty adapted to accommodate an absorbent component is disclosed. The panty may include a crotch portion that exhibits a crotch longitudinal Elongation of 5 percent to 100 percent and a crotch longitudinal Tensile Modulus of 20 gf/mm to 100 gf/mm; and a crotch lateral Elongation of 50 percent to 200 percent and a crotch lateral Tensile Modulus of 2 gf/mm to 20 gf/mm. A combination of a brief panty and an absorbent pad, and an array including a brief panty product and an absorbent pad product, are also disclosed. The products are useful for management of incontinence.
Abstract:
Absorbent articles have a chassis with a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed therebetween. A pair of side flaps is attached to the chassis. A portion of each first surface of the pair of side flaps is attached to an outer-facing surface of the chassis. And, another portion of each first surface has adhesive disposed thereon. A release liner covers at least a portion of the adhesive of the first surface. The release liner and free ends of each of the pair of side flaps are superjacent to the chassis prior to use.
