Abstract: A prefill tool (10) for finishing wallboard joints (50) is provided, and includes a box assembly (12) defining a hopper, having a top wall (28) and a front wall (26) constructed and arranged for engaging the wallboard joint. The front wall partially defines a gate (54) dimensioned for dispensing joint compound stored in the hopper. Also, the gate is located on a skid plate (66) mounted on the front wall, the skid plate having a main portion (68), and a gate portion (74) partially defining the gate being displaced from a plane defined by the main portion.
