Abstract: The invention relates to a method for localizing and enhancing a digital map (1) through a motor vehicle (2). In order to allow for localizing of the motor vehicle on the basis of a digital map as well as for simultaneously enhancing the digital map in a resource-efficient way, the following steps are envisaged: - receiving a digital partial map (4) of a multitude of partial maps (4) of the digital map (1) through the motor vehicle (2) from a database (7), wherein the digital map (1) according to a predetermined segmentation rule is segmented into the multitude of the digital partial maps (4), and wherein the digital partial map (4) represents an environment (U) of the motor vehicle (2), - capturing an image (3) of the environment (U) of the motor vehicle (2) by means of a sensor arrangement (51) of the motor vehicle (2), - localizing of the motor vehicle (2) in the environment (U) by comparing the received digital partial map (4) with the image (3) of the environment (U) of the motor vehicle (2), - enhancing the digital partial map (4) on the basis of the image (3) of the environment (U) of the motor vehicle (2), - transmitting the enhanced digital partial map (5) and/or the image (3) of the environment (U) to the database (7) for enhancing the digital map (1).
