A force transmission device (18) for a comminuting apparatus (10) for transmitting a driving force from a drive unit (12) to a comminuting rotor (16) is described. The force transmission device (18) comprises at least one torsional vibration absorber (36) and at least one clutch element (38) which operates as a function of torque, said torsional vibration absorber and clutch element being arranged connected in series between the drive unit (12) and the comminuting rotor (16).

A comminution machine comprises a rotor (14) which is equipped with blade elements (16, 18) and interacts with at least one counter-blade (19, 20) that is mounted stationarily in the housing. The rotor (14) is separated by a sieve (39) from a collection compartment (40) for comminuted material. The rotor has a rotor base (70) having through-openings (88), in which rotor base a screw (98) is arranged. In this way, the rotor (14) itself can be used as an additional sieve via which sufficiently comminuted material can be discharged.
