摘要: Apparatus and methods for a hydroponics system with enhanced heat transfer are presented herein. By arranging the flow hydroponics system to have a series flow pattern via tubes and hydroponic pans, heat may be transferred from heat producing elements. The heat producing elements, including light emitting diodes (LEDs), may be thermally attached to the pans. The recycled heat can be transferred to the series circulating water supply for providing nutrient rich minerals at the roots of plants. Additionally, the heat can be transferred via the pans and without the need for costly fans or specialized heat sinks. In this way more space can be availed for the production of plants while recycling energy in the form of transferred heat.

A bin interior may include a plant-growing zone proximate a bottom of the bin. The walls may include one or more light-transmissive windows above the plant-growing zone. The light projector assembly may comprise a light projector and a support structure. A light projector may be supported outside of the bin position and proximate to and spaced from one of the one or more windows when the bin assembly is in the predetermined position. The light projector may be configured to project light upwardly through the one window and toward the ceiling. A support structure may support the light projector. The support structure may be spaced from a vertical extension of the predetermined position, unobstructive of vertical access to the bin.

摘要: A system for plant growth lighting comprises a generally planar light guide sheet having an illumination surface, a back surface situated opposite the illumination surface, and at least one pair of opposingly disposed peripheral edge portions. The light guide sheet includes a plurality of structures to scatter and mix light received therein. Light is received within the light guide sheet as emitted from a series of Light Emitting Diode light sources (LEDs) selected to provide a photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) value. The series of LEDs may be located on the opposingly disposed peripheral edge portions, such that they direct light towards the other of the opposingly disposed peripheral edge portions. A reflective sheet is overlaid in optical communication with the back surface of the light guide. Light as received from the LEDs within the light guide is scattered and randomly mixed by the plurality of structures therein. A first amount of the scattered and randomly mixed light is directly propagated generally orthogonally through an illumination surface of the light guide, while another amount is reflected from the reflective sheet on the back surface of the light guide before being re-directed orthogonally through the illumination surface.

The systems can be based on a photobioreactor having a "tube-in-tube structure", where an outer cylindrical tube contains a heat regulation fluid that surrounds one or more inner cylinders that contain microorganisms in growth media. The heat regulation fluid in the outer cylinder, as well as the outer cylinder itself, can assist with regulating the temperature of the growth media in the inner cylinder(s).
