Abstract: A method for shaping hair comprising the steps of: (i) folding a curling sheet consisting of or comprising a superabsorbent material around the tips of the hair strand like an end-wrap, (ii) winding the hair around the folded sheet, thereby using said sheet as a curler, (iii) fixing the curlers with a clip, a pin or an other tool appropriate for fixing the hair on a curler, (iv) applying a aqueous hair shaping composition onto the hair on the curler, (v) leaving the shaping composition to act on the hair for 1 to 30 minutes, whereby said sheet is swelling and produces tension on the hair wound on it, and (vi) removing the said sheet. Also claimed is a sheet for the winding of hair during permanent hair shaping, according to anyone of claims 8 to 10, exclusively consisting of (a) a carrier material, (b) at least one superabsorbent polymer in non-swollen form and (c) at least one thickener.

Abstract: A hair setting strip (20) for retaining a plurality of strands of hair (22) and thereby setting a retained plurality of strands of hair in a desired style, comprises a thin resiliently pliant base member (30) in the form of a strip having greater length than width, opposed first (31) and second (32) faces, and a longitudinal axis (A). A layer of hair-retentive material (40) is securely mounted on the first face of the thin resiliently pliant base member. The hair setting strip is bendable along the longitudinal axis to a plurality of curved configurations, and is thereby selectively formable to any of the plurality of curved configurations. The hair setting strip may be retained in any selected curved configuration, whereby the retained plurality of strands of hair will become set in the desired style.

Abstract: A single implement device for the generation of hair curls without the need for heat is provided. Such an implement utilizes two flexible fabric-covered rod structures that curve around a user's head, each from the forehead area to the back of the head, thereby providing two substantially symmetrical components around which hair portions may be wrapped and kept for a certain period of time. After a certain period of time, the user removes the implement and the previously wrapped hair exhibits desired curls that last another 24 hours, at least. Such an implement allows for curl generation without the need for heat applications and/or multiple hair rollers. The method of utilizing such a single implement to generate hair curls throughout the entirety of a user's hair is also encompassed within this invention.
