摘要： A bedding foundation (10) used to support a mattress (12) has a mechanism therein for moving the mattress between inclined and flat positions. The foundation (10) combines desirable features of conventional non-adjustable bed bases and adjustable bed bases. A wire assembly (92) and a motorized lift assembly (34) comprising a motorized drive mechanism (76) may be secured to a base (22) of the foundation (10). The motorized lift assembly (34) pivots a lifter (60) which has two curved portions (66) which function to raise and lower a deck board (16) to incline and lower the mattress (12). If desired, a second motorized lift assembly may be incorporated into a bedding foundation for use with another deck board.

As the sun passes overhead to a point which causes the sunbather' s exposure to the sun to be diminished, the sunbather may merely drop the first backrest portion down to a horizontal or other desired position, adjust the second backrest portion to a position of inclination which suits the sunbather, and turn him or herself around 180° to lay in the opposite direction in the lounge chair.
