Quick-release control systems for architectural opening coverings and associated control systems and methods for rapidly deploying the coverings to extended positions. In one embodiment coupling assemblies are provided for controllably coupling and decoupling portions of lifting mechanisms in a variety of covering systems, including roller and cellular shade systems. In yet other embodiments, control systems for controlling a plurality of coverings are provided, which may be configured to remotely and simultaneously deploying each of the plurality of coverings to an extended position in response to a trigger signal.

The present invention relates to curtains that include a curtain rod (1) which is mounted on at least two brackets (2) and along which free-hanging vertical suspensions (3) are provided. The suspensions are made in the form of elongated members having a curved cross section and made of a resistant and elastic plastic material, wherein said suspensions are arranged along the curtain rod so that they essentially rest tightly upon one another. The material used for the suspensions may have various colours and/or levels of transparency. These curtains prevent insects and the light, inter alia , from penetrating into premises and further have a decorative effect.

The ribbon rod assembly (10) includes a ribbon rod body (16) having a curved portion (26) defining a plurality of opposing curves (44A, 44B) interposed between a pair of end portions (18) adapted to directly engage a curtain rod (14), window header (17), ceiling and/or wall (12) using one or more end brackets (18).

A hanging system for attaching a curtain to a hollow-section window frame (10). Said hanging system comprises two brackets (24) that are attachable to the frame, each bracket having a hanging pin (28) extending therefrom. The brackets also have an expandable spigot (35) to extend through a first hole (31) formed in the fame, and expansion means (40) which cause each spigot to expand such that removal of each spigot from its respective hole is prevented. A rod (25) is provided to extend across the window between the brackets, and two couplings (44) connectable to the ends of the rod are also provided. These locate over the hanging pins to support the rod (25) between the brackets (24). The invention also provides a method of fixing a curtain rod onto a hollow-section window, using such a system. The holes to locate the two brackets on opposite sides of the window frame are marked and cut and the brackets are attached to the frame. The spigots are expanded to prevent removal of the brackets. Then the rod is cut to the correct length and a coupling is attached to each end, so that in turn the couplings locate on the hanging pins to support the rod.

An extendable bracket assembly (10) for supporting hardware components has a mounting base (12) with a base plate (13). The base plate has an attachment side (18) for mounting the base plate to a surface and has a support side (16) opposite the attachment side. A base support element extends from the support side of the base plate. A first extension part (20a) has a first body with a proximal end adjacent the mounting base and a first extension support element (22) that extends from an opposite distal end of the first body. The first extension part can be removed from and rattached to the base support element to adjust the bracket length as needed. The base support element is exposed when the first extension part is removed. The extendable bracket assembly can include a plurality of like extension parts to further increase the bracket length.

A cornice fixture for decorating a wall and a method of installing the cornice fixture are disclosed. The cornice fixture includes a rod from which window treatments are hung and at least one bracket. Typically, the cornice fixture includes a pair of brackets, and the rod is slidably coupled to the brackets. Slidably coupling the rod to the brackets enables the installer to center the rod about a given point after the rod has been coupled to the bracket.
