Abstract:
A cartridge for delivery of a material therefrom which has a corrugated portion to allow for bending/extending to be applied to the device from which a material to be deposited can be dispensed. The bendability and extendibility allow for greater efficiency in use and application of the material into cavities, pockets, and/or crevices where one needs to deposit the material.
Abstract:
A capsule for mixing and dispensing a dental material which has a body forming a cavity. The cavity is closed by a liquid container. The body and the liquid container in combination form a mixing chamber containing a first component of the dental material. The liquid container has a cup-shaped cartridge formed by a cartridge front wall and a cartridge side wall and having a rear opening. A plug is movably joined within the cartridge through the rear opening for extruding a liquid second component of the dental material. The cartridge further has a channel extending through the cartridge side wall for releasing the second component into the mixing chamber. The body side wall inwardly has a recess being dimensioned for establishing a fluid communication between the channel and the cavity in an activated position, where the activated position corresponds to a second axial position of a two different axial positions of the of the cartridge and the body relative to each other. Further the first axial position corresponds to an inactivated position in which the channel is offset from the recess. A first cover film seals the joint between the cartridge and the plug, and the channel is openably sealed by a second cover film at least in the inactivated position. The capsule helps facilitating the preparation of a dental material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a dispensing plunger (1) for a dispensing apparatus (2). The dispensing apparatus (2) is suitable for the reception of a cartridge (3) containing a dispensable medium. The dispensing plunger (1) can be arranged at and/or in the dispensing apparatus (2), wherein the dispensing plunger (1) has an end face (4) which can act on the cartridge (3) for a dispensing of the medium out of the cartridge (3). The dispensing plunger (1) is configured in such a way that the end face (4), during the dispensing of the medium, has at least a first dispensing cross-section (5) and subsequently has at least a second dispensing cross-section. The first dispensing cross-section (5) and the second dispensing cross-section in particular have a different size and/or shape.
Abstract:
A plunger assembly for a cartridge for dispensing dental material. The plunger assembly has a receptacle, an activator, and a passageway extending through the receptacle along a longitudinal axis. The passageway forms a chamber for storing at least a component of the dental material and has an outlet for the chamber. The activator has a piston for extruding the component from the chamber and a plug for the outlet. The activator is movable to unplug the outlet and to subsequently extrude the component in a single stroke. The plunger assembly helps for reliably emptying the chamber and helps facilitating dispensation of dental materials.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A dispensing device for a dental material comprises a cartridge having an outlet nozzle which forms a passageway for the dental material. The dispensing device further comprises a closure which is placeable on the outlet nozzle for sealing the cartridge. The closure comprises a pin for extending into the passageway, and is further adapted to seal with an outer surface of the outlet nozzle. The dispensing device is further adapted such that the pin is displaceable from the passageway by dental material dispensed from the cartridge, wherein the displacement causes the closure to release from the outlet nozzle. The invention may provide for relatively easy operation of the dental dispensing device.
Abstract:
The invention includes a piston having a piston body and a front seal for sealing the gap between the side wall of the piston body and the wall of a chamber within which the piston and a material are disposed in a conventional manner. The front seal has a leading edge included angle, as defined below, and a trailing edge included angle that is smaller than the leading edge included angle. By the appropriate selection of these two angles, the force required to move the piston (and thus the material) is optimized, which results in a more useful dispenser than conventional syringe-type dispensers. These and other features of the present invention are described in greater detail below.
Abstract:
An apparatus (200) for dispensing material (70) during a dental or endodontic procedure includes a housing (220) having a motor (242) with an output. A needle heating member (252) including a chamber may receive a prefilled needle (16) of dispensing material (70). A heater (250) at least substantially surrounds the chamber for heating the material (70) in the needle (16). A plunger (246) is used to expel the material from the needle (16) during activation of the motor. A reusable protective sheath (100) is provided for disposition on the outside of the housing (220). A method of manufacturing a needle (16) for use and dispensing a material (70) during a dental or endodontic procedure includes drawing a blank of metal having a closed distal end, bending the blank at a desired angle, and removing a portion of the drawn metal from the distal end to open the distal end thereby forming the dispensing needle (16).
Abstract:
A method of forming a capsule assembly which includes radiation-reactive dental restorative material includes exposing selected portions of an exterior surface of the container to laser generated radiation at an energy level sufficient to create indicia on the exterior surface, with the indicia having a sufficient contrast relative to the exterior surface to enable readily visual human and/or optical machine-readable detection of the indicia. The indicia identify characteristics of the radiation-reactive dental restorative material in the container, the container is formed from a laser-enhanced (LE) polymer which is inert relative to the radiation-reactive dental restorative material within the container. The ability of the container to dispense the radiation-reactive dental restorative material under pressure is not adversely affected by the exposure of the container to laser generated radiation when creating the indicia on the exterior surface of the container. Optionally, the exposure of the laser-enhanced (LE) polymer to laser generated radiation is done at an energy level sufficient to create one or more raised protrusions on the container, useful for engaging a resilient cap adjacent an orifice on the container.
