Therapeutic jewelry is provided that can provide a therapeutic heating or cooling effect to a user. At least one of first or second container portions define a filling aperture open to the interior fluid cavity of the jewelry element body, enabling filling the interior fluid cavity. A cap is operably connectable to seal the filling opening so that the interior fluid cavity is sealed to fluid therein, while maintaining the opening of the hollow interior of the receiving member open to receive the support device.
Abstract:
A device for heating or cooling a body of a user is provided. The device includes a thermoelectric module, a heat sink thermally coupled to the thermoelectric module, a wetting material in thermal communication with the heat sink, and a controller for cycling the thermoelectric module in accordance with a duty cycle. Additionally, a method of heating or cooling a portion of a body of a user is provided. The method includes cycling electrical power to a thermoelectric module at a duty cycle, transferring heat from the thermoelectric module to a heat sink, and evaporating a liquid from a wetting material disposed on the heat sink. The evaporated liquid enters the surrounding atmosphere.

A cough suppressant garment may be worn around the neck of the user. The cough suppressant garment may have three layers, and one or more of the three layers may be manufactured from a woven material, such as, for example, cotton. An end of the cough suppressant garment may reversibly attach to an opposite end of the cough suppressant garment to maintain a position of the cough suppressant garment on the neck of the user.

The present invention relates to disposable thermal neck wraps (10) having one or more thermal packs (50) comprising a unified structure having at least one continuous layer of semirigid material, which has different stiffness characteristics over a range of temperatures, and a plurality of heat cells (26), wherein the heat energy is applied to specific areas of the upper back, neck and shoulders. More particularly, the present invention relates to disposable thermal neck wraps (10) having good conformity to user's upper back, neck, and shoulders which provides consistent, convenient, and comfortable heat application.

The present invention provides devices for cooling and heating an individual's neck. Devices of the invention include two heating and cooling members that each a contoured surface for resting against a side of a user's neck and are coupled together via a bridge portion. The members each include a temperature assembly. The temperature assembly includes a heating and cooling module positioned against the contoured surface of the member. The temperature assembly may also include a heat sink, a fan, or both. The device further includes a controller for controlling the temperature assembly.

A device and method for non-invasive treatment of menopausal hot flashes. The device includes a hand-held assembly sized to be held in the palm of a user's hand; a cooling plate within the assembly and a cradle which docks with the assembly. The cradle plugs into an AC power source and includes a Peltier-effect element for cooling a contact plate. The contact plate in the cradle abuts the cooling plate in the docked assembly and cools the same, keeping it at the lowered temperature and ready for immediate use. The cradle includes a heat sink for dissipating heat generated by the Peltier-effect element. The assembly is undocked from the cradle. The cooled plate is placed against the skin on the back of the neck and is moved back and forth to stimulate cold thermoreceptors in the skin, thereby counteracting the false trigger which caused the hot flash.

A cervical collar that facilitates therapeutic hypothermia is provided and includes a front portion, a back portion fixedly coupled to the front portion on one side and removably coupled to the front portion on an opposite side, and a fastening device that removably couples the back portion to the front portion on the opposite side. At least one cooling device is disposed on an interior of the front portion and/or the back portion to induce hypothermia in a patient.
