The bottom surface (30b) of the cut out section (30) additionally comprises a recess (40) dimensioned to receive a pole vault box collar (50) such that when the cutout section (30) is placed over a pole vault box (60) and a pole vault box collar (50), the pole vault box collar (50) is received in the recess (40) and the bottom surface (30b) of the cutout section (30) is substantially flush with the ground surrounding the pole vault box (60).
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention refers to the jumping pit, especially for high jump events, designed to ensure a safe landing for a jumper making jumps from larger heights. A jumping pit comprises a flat elastic structure and a shield put thereon, where the elastic structure is the inflatable mattress ( 1 ) provided on one side with evenly placed elastic inflatable ridges ( 2 ) attached with one side to the surface of the mattress ( 1 ). The ridges ( 2 ) are open from the side adjacent to the mattress ( 1 ) and attached to the mattress ( 1 ) along the edge of their bases so that the capacities of the ridges and capacity of the mattress ( 1 ) constitute the one whole. The mattress ( 1 ) with the ridges ( 2 ) is covered from the outside from the top and from the sides with the shield, the shape of which is aligned with the shape of the mattress ( 1 ) and its ridges and which is supported on the tops of the ridges ( 2 ).
Abstract:
A contoured landing surface system and a method of making thereof are provided. The system matches landing surface or pit density to the force generated by an athlete's descending body to cushion the athlete's fall based on air displacement rather than foam characteristics. The system is designed to compensate for variables such as velocity, mass and surface area at the point of impact by utilizing a multilayered structure (10), each layer (10, 14, 16) having a plurality of patterned ridges thereon and a network of air channels therebetween. The ridges (16) and air channels (20) of adjacent layers extend perpendicular to the ridges (18) and air channels (20) of each other. Preferably, the landing surface is constructed using layers of foam having the same density.

Abstract:
A sunken pit device for catching trainee gymnasts performing acrobatic exercises on gymnastics apparatuses placed above or on the edge of the pit, is described. The upper portion of the device consists of a close-meshed and knot-free net (1) stretched over the floor and held by elastic cords (2) and stage screws (3) embedded in a bevelled concrete quoin (4). A flexible foam (7) is placed directly on top of the net above the central portion of the pit while the peripheral portion is covered with a harder foam (8). The whole is covered with a flexible fireproof fabric (11) which is pulled taut and pinned down around the edge of the pit by a male section (12) engaging a female section (10).
Abstract:
A sensor mat for accurate timing of athletic jumps. The mat includes top and bottom plates which are separated by a cavity. The plates come into contact under the weight of an athlete and activate timing circuitry. Airflow in the cavity is enhanced by passages or vents in the bottom plate to improve response time of the mat.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are directed to an assembly (1) for engaging an end of a vaulting pole, wherein the assembly comprises a base section (2) comprised of a frame configured to be at least partially recessedly installed in the ground. A platform is connected (12) to the base and comprises a top surface comprising a planar surface (13) configured to enable receipt of an end of a vaulting pole during a pole vault plant and at least one padding tray (18a, 18b, 20) adjacent to a perimeter of the planar surface, which is configured to receive padding, Optionally, a collar of additional padding may be provided comprising at least one padding, wherein the collar is configured for operative coupling to the top surface of the platform.
Abstract:
A landing pad for overlying the landing site of a ski/snowboarding terrain park tabletop or similar jump having a wedge shaped cushion with a downhill end that is lower than the uphill end. The upper and lower surfaces of the landing pad are close together at the downhill end to permit seamless ride off of the landing pad to permit users to continue skiing or snowboarding down the mountain.
Abstract:
A fall arrest unit (1) is provided for preventing injury of individuals or damage to articles resulting from a fall. The unit (1) comprises an outer casing (10) and inner cushioning means. The cushioning means comprise one or more flexible envelopes (20) housing a fluid such as air (21). The unit (1) is formed so as to be capable of being placed together in a closely adjacent relationship with one or more further such units to define a substantially continuous impact surface. An impact-absorbing surface comprising a plurality of fall arrest units, a method of constructing a fall arrest unit and a method of cushioning the fall of a person in the construction industry are also provided.
