Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Haarentfernungsvorrichtung, insbesondere ein Epiliergerät, sowie ein Verfahren zur kosmetischen Körperhaarentfernung, wobei zu entfernende Haare von zyklisch angetriebenen, pinzettenartigen Greifelementen gegriffen und durch eine Hubbewegung der Greifelemente zumindest teilweise aus der Haut herausgezogen werden, wobei die Greifelemente zyklisch auseinander bewegt, auf die Haut zu bewegt, zusammengefahren und von der Haut wegbewegt werden. In Abkehr vom bislang verfolgten Ansatz, an einer Epilierwalze einmal eingefangene Haare kontinuierlich in einem Zug herauszuziehen, wird vorgeschlagen, die Haare nicht auf einmal herauszuziehen, sondern durch mehrere aufeinander folgende Mikrozupfbewegungen zunächst die Verankerung der Haarwurzel zu lösen und dann Stück für Stück das jeweilige Haar herauszuziehen. Erfindungsgemäß werden die von den Greifelementen erfassten Haare in mehreren Hüben aus der Haut herausgezogen, zwischen denen die Greifelemente auseinander bewegt und zum Nachfassen näher zurück auf die Haut zu bewegt und wieder zusammengefahren werden. Vorteilhafterweise erfolgt das Nachfassen dabei so schnell, dass sich das bereits ein kleines Stück weit herausgezogene Haar aufgrund seiner viskoelastischen Verankerung der Haarwurzel nur unwesentlich zurückbewegen kann und in jedem Fall seine Ausgangsstellung noch nicht erreicht hat.
