Abstract:
A method for the automatic creation of a digital photographic book which operates on the division of the book page, by executing the processing of each component of the page itself as a separate, detached entity. The following steps are provided for: i- the user's selection, from an original set of images, of a series of detachable products to be inserted, ii - the user's selection of the detachable layout or a background with detachable layout, iii - the user's insertion of the detachable photographs into preconfigured boxes and determination of the print format related to said box as well as the print type, iv - processing of the information set with related compilation of the executable files, for the transfer into binary format; v - transfer to the user of the files related to the images composing the book page, separately in groups, vi - actual printing of each page of the book, the relative component sections deriving from the division and from the processing carried out.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and printing machine for producing a printed product with a number of volumes, in which the pages of the volumes are printed in the printing machine by imprinting printed pages onto a web. The web is folded in a folder belonging to the printing machine whereby forming at least one of the volumes of printed product. The printed product is laid out at an exit of the folder, and the web is folded in such a manner that a final format of each volume completely shows one of the printed pages. Before laying out the printed product at the exit of the folder, volumes belonging to the same printed product are collected in the folder by placing these volumes one atop the other.
Abstract:
According to one aspect, the invention relates to a method of stacking covers for the fabrication of booklets. Each cover includes two cover sheets and an interconnecting spine. Applied to the inner surface of the spine is a binding device that includes a binding agent. The covers are mutually stacked with the inner surface of the spine of one cover lying against the outer surface of the spine of an adjacent cover. According to the invention, a deactivatable separating device is provided between the binding agent and the outer surface of the spine of an adjacent cover, so as to prevent adhesion between the spines of respective covers. According to another aspect of the invention, a cover of this kind is provided with a binding device that includes a binding agent (104) and a separating device (105) disposed on the surface of the binding agent that lies remote from the spine (103), this separating device preferably having a form of woven material affixed to the binding agent (104). The invention also comprises a method of producing a booklet with the use of the inventive cover. According to the inventive method of fabrication, the separating device is deactivated at the same time as the binding agent is activated and a sheet bundle is moved in towards the spine of the cover.
Abstract:
A system (1) for personalized printing, paper and paperboard processing, and binding to enable automatic management of simple, special, and mixed operations of paper and paperboard processing and binding, has the particular feature of being of a modular type and hence with high flexibility of use and operation in so far as into said system (1) there may be inserted manufacturing machines or processing stations (A2, A3, B, C, D, E, F, G) that can be allocated therein according to the desired modalities, number, and operating sequence, with the additional possibility of their being replaced with further machines different therefrom so as to obtain a system (1) for personalized printing, paper and paperboard processing, and binding that is completely personalizable, with the maximum flexibility of use and operation according to the needs at the moment of production.
Abstract:
A booklet comprises a book block (20) having at least two sheets (1 -5), secured together by stitching (50) whereby when the sheets are folded along a fold line (30) substantially parallel with the stitching (50) such that each sheet defines a pair of leaves one on each side of the fold line (30), the sheets form an innermost sheet (5) and an outermost sheet (1 ). An obverse side (51 ) of the stitching is exposed on the inner surface of the innermost sheet (5) and a reverse side (52) of the stitching is exposed on the outer surface of the outermost sheet (1 ). A cover member (10) has inner (12) and outer (11) surfaces, the inner surface defining first and second cover pages (10A, 10B) one on each side of a cover fold line (10C). The book block (24) is attached to the cover member (10) by attaching a leaf (4A) of the book block to the first cover page (10A) to define a first end page, the leaf of the book block defining the first end page being selected such that the book block can be opened in two different configurations to reveal respectively the obverse (51 ) and reverse (52) sides of the stitching without detaching the book block from the cover member.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and device for making an album, particularly from folded photograph sheets (3) and cover (2, 5) and divider sheets (4), which are glued into the form of an album. At least the photograph sheets (3) and the divider sheets (4) are positioned for gluing by using positioning means (e.g. 11 - 15, 20), the position of which relative to the glued piece can be moved away from the location of the glued piece.
Abstract:
A book manufacturing system has an order server (30) for interfacing with customers to receive book orders, and for generating an electronic order including book manufacturing parameters and an address for at least one document of content for the book. A production server (32, 60) parses the book order to automatically generate a unique multi-component identifier for the book in which at least some identifier components specify book manufacturing stage instructions. It also writes the identifier to a production database (61) job ticket, and to each document for the book. The production server (32, 60) generates document printing instructions according to the job ticket (61), and transmits (71) said instructions to selected digital printers. Each digital printer operates in response to instructions to print (73, 74) book pages or a cover in which at least one page includes the unique book identifier. Manufacturing stations perform a manufacturing stage downstream from printing. Each receives printed pages or a cover, reads the printed identifier, and transmits at least a component of the identifier to the production server. The production server transmits manufacturing stage instructions to manufacturing stations in response to receiving an identifier upload, and each manufacturing station operates (76, 82, 111) in response to the received manufacturing stage instructions to perform the manufacturing stage and route the pages to a next manufacturing station.
