Abstract:
The air flow which this invention itself makes on its surface makes lift by the Bernoulli effect. This invention utilizes the difference of the pressure of one side of the surface on which air flows and that of the other side of the surface on which air does not flow.
Abstract:
Aircraft are usually provided with moveable aerofoils as a means to control direction and orientation. On fixed wing craft these commonly take the form of hinged vanes or ailerons. In Coanda craft the vanes are usually hinged to the skirt of the canopy. The invention offers an alternative method of steering in which the aerofoil is flexible and that the craft has means to cause the aerofoil to flex. Applied to a Coanda craft, the canopy (1) of the craft can be made to be flexible and the craft comprise means (4, 5, 6) to flex selected portion of the canopy so as to cause the craft to pitch or roll. The airfoil (1) may be formed from a single integral piece and be composed of a composite material having a varying composition so as to give different portions of the aerofoil different levels of flexibility.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention arose in the design of vertical takeoff craft where a bladed rotor directs a jet of fluid over a curved surface so that the jet is turned from a radial direction towards an axial direction to create lift. These craft have stability problems when an attempt is made to hover close to the ground or to a vertical surface and for this reason such craft have been confined to paper proposals and unsuccessful experimental models. In accordance with the invention, the craft is designed so that its rotor and other moving parts have a large angular momentum. In this way, a gyroscopic effect is achieved, sufficient to give positive stability to the craft, eliminating the aforementioned problem.
Abstract:
An air or hover board including a platform upon which an operator of the vehicle can be supported; and an air cushion support arrangement for providing an air flow for supporting the platform above a surface such as water, ice, snow or land. Horizontal propulsion may be provided by ground engaging wheels or a fan and the board is turned or steered at least partially by varying the weight distribution of the operator or rider.
Abstract:
A circular wing aircraft (10) in the form of a helicopter (12) comprising a fuselage (14) and a circular wing assembly (16). A structure (18) is for mounting the circular wing assembly (16) above the fuselage (14) in a stationary manner. An air impeller unit (20) is rotatively carried within the circular wing assembly (16). A device (22) is for driving the air impeller unit (20) to rotate about a central axis (24) within the circular wing assembly (16), so as to provide lift and flight movement while yaw control is maintained.
Abstract:
Описан летательный аппарат с применением эффекта Коанда. Аппарат выполнен в виде диска с расположенными на нем несколькими лопастями в форме крыльев, снабжеными диффузорами, соединенными с источником сжатого воздуха.
Abstract:
A torque production vehicle (100) includes a plenum body (110) having a wall (112) with a central port (120) and a radial port (130) formed within the wall, an impeller (140) disposed within the plenum body to move air through the central port, an engine (145) coupled to the impeller to rotate the impeller about an axis (Ar), at least one arm (150) coupled to the plenum body, and a plurality of foils (160) disposed in the radial port to direct air about the plenum body to provide a torque force (Ft) about the plenum body.
