Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention concerns a device for forming successive batches (7) of articles (2), comprising: a forward moving path (9) along which the articles are driven one by one at a substantially so-called constant entry speed, by being juxtaposed with one another; a conveyor (11) designed to receive the successive batches (7) of articles to drive them at a so-called exit speed higher than the entry speed, means for transferring (14) articles (2) from the forward moving path (9) towards the conveyor (11), capable of grasping and assembling the articles (2) to form spaced apart batches (7); means for driving (15) the transfer means (14),and an automatic control device (16), designed to apply to the driving means (15) a non-constant speed profile.
Abstract:
There is provided for a packaging machine an overhead boom arrangement (20) having a number of endless belts (22, 23) driven around sets of rollers (25). The belts (22, 23) contact the tops of articles/bottles (11) or carton blanks (50) and are driven at the same speed as the speed of the articles through the packaging machine. At least one of the belts (23) is height adjustable relative to the other belt or belts (22). The boom arrangement holds the articles (11) whilst the blanks (50) are being folded around.
Abstract:
A processing section of a packaging machine includes a conveyor configured to be driven by a first drive member, and at least one additional conveyor including at least one tray folding member configured to selectively extend about and ride on the conveyor. The at least one additional conveyor is configured to be driven by a second drive member that is distinct from the first drive member.
Abstract:
A method of processing a plurality of articles through a processing section of a packaging machine includes guiding a plurality of articles supported on a support tray blank onto at least one additional conveyor extending about and riding on a conveyor, folding at least one of a leading edge flap and trailing edge flap of the support tray blank with at least one tray folding member provided on the at least one additional conveyor to form a portion of a support tray, and shifting the support tray along the conveyor.
Abstract:
A carton for containing a plurality of articles. The carton comprises a plurality of panels extending at least partially around an interior of the carton. The plurality of panels comprises at least one side panel. The carton further comprises a plurality of end flaps foldably connected to a respective panel of the plurality of panels. The plurality of end flaps are configured to close an end of the carton. The plurality of end flaps comprise at least one side end flap foldably connected to the at least one side panel. The carton further comprises an article protection feature foldably connected to the at least one side end flap and moveable between a first position that is substantially parallel to the side end flap and a second position wherein the article protection feature is folded relative to the at least one side end flap.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming a package of similar articles (12) wrapped by a carton blank (9) applied to a group of articles includes a conveyor (32) for conveying the article group and carton blank to a closing station, an alignment member (14) for causing the article group and the carton blank to adopt a pre-determined relationship relative to one another to provide a preformed unit to facilitate completion of the package, a device (16) for applying a force transverse to the conveying direction to the preformed unit, folding means for folding the bottom panels (3, 5) of the blank into overlapping relationship beneath the bases of the articles within the unit, and securing means for securing the bottom panels together at the closing station to complete the package.

Abstract:
A carton for containing at least one article. The carton comprises at least one panel that can form an interior of the carton. The carton comprises at least one protection feature for protecting the articles from breakage. The article protection feature can comprise at least one feature in end flaps of the carton. The article protection feature can comprise an article protection flap foldably connected to the at least one panel. The article protection flap can be moveable between a first position and a second position wherein the article protection flap is folded relative to the at least one panel.
Abstract:
An apparatus for forming a carton containing a group of articles and a method of forming a carton. The apparatus comprises an article positioning system for positioning articles into a plurality of groups of articles and moving the groups of articles along a processing path, a blank handling apparatus for conveying a plurality of carton blanks towards the plurality of groups of articles, and a folding mechanism that is downstream of the blank handling apparatus for folding a portion of the ends of each respective carton blank downwardly around the respective group of articles.
