Abstract:
A stack is disclosed of ring-shaped or disk-shaped parts (10) provided with a radial slot (11), such as sealing rings or the like, arranged on a packaging piece (20) inserted in the inner space formed by the parts whose radial slots (11) are all oriented in the same way. The packaging piece has an orienting element (21a, 22a) that extends over the length of the stack and that is held in the oriented radial slots by means of a supporting element fixed to the orienting element. The supporting element rests in the inner space formed by the parts and the packaging element (20) is provided at one frontal end with bearing elements (21b, 22b) upon which rests the opposite surface of the stack. In order to obtain a stack with a re-usable packaging element also for large, heavy parts (10) having a circular inner contour and clearly oriented slots, the orienting element (21a, 22a) and the supporting element are designed as bent sheet metal parts, the supporting element rests with play on two supporting edges on the inner contour of the parts, symmetricaly to the radial slots, so that the orienting element (21a, 22a) is retained in the radial slots (11) in a limited adjustable manner.

A method and apparatus are provided for processing rough cut lumber to convert the rough cut lumber into trimmed to length and dimensionally trimmed to form a standard piece of dimensioned lumber. The process and apparatus includes the formation of a plurality of columns of lumber pieces in addition to a one column operation mode. The lumber pieces in each of the columns are graded, indexed, measured for a trim to length, trimmed to length and then sorted by grade and trimmed length.

A core carrier or pallet, and tie-down core retainer device, for carrying bore vertical narrow or slit cores. The welded steel pallet has bearers (1) joined by parallel traverse members (2). The centre transverse member has bore strapping sections (4) with strap protectors (5). A central position (6) is provided for attaching a chain. Corners have end plates (7) with side lugs for overhead lifting gear. There are forklift lifting lugs (9) on each side. The retainer device has a channel (11), cross member (16), and a central bore restrainer locking plate (17) wherein a bore restrainer of chain and hook (19) has the hook attached at central position (6) and the chain attached to the locking plate (17). Anti-slip material is on lower surfaces of the primary bearers and upper surfaces of the transverse bearers to prevent shifting of the pallet during transport and moving of the lowest core on the pallet, respectively.
Abstract:
A cushioned shipping assembly (20) includes a corrugated carton (22) and foam inserts (27) which are returned by an end user to the fabricator. In some embodiments, the carton collapses to a diminished size for return. The fabricator refurbishes the components, recycling aged or spent pieces. Preferably polyolefin foams, olefin-based adhesives and coatings, and wood fiber-based corrugated material make up the cushioned system, and one component is compatible with recycling processes of others. The fabricator may perform on-premises pelletizing of reclaimed polymer, thus providing a more efficient, environmentally clean system.

To obviate high packaging costs, storage of a wide variety of packagings, and subsequent disposal of packaging material, the blank (A) of the folding box (F) is independent of the material and designed so that double or triple wall thicknesses with correspondingly good impact-absorbing properties are obtained when the box is folded. Pairs of folding boxes (F) can be used efficiently, particularly in hexagonal or octagonal form, to protect the checks of packaged light metal rims.

According to an aspect of the present invention, a packaging system for glass scoring wheels having different physical attribute configurations is provided that includes a plurality of containers and a plurality of caddies. Each caddy includes a wheel mount shaft extending from a base. The wheel mount shaft has an axial length that permits a plurality of glass scoring wheels to be mounted on the mount shaft. The base is adapted to mate with an open end of the container. The caddies include "n" number of different color configuration caddies. The color configuration of each of the "n" different color configuration caddies is different than the color configuration of the other of the "n" different color configuration caddies. Each of the "n" color configurations identifies a particular physical attribute of the glass scoring wheels, which attribute is operable to distinguish glass scoring wheels having different physical attributes.
