A spool (300) for winding fine wire at high tension on is disclosed that is particularly suitable to wind steel wire used for sawing of hard and brittle materials. The spool has different inventive aspects. There are the supports (310) that comprise radial elastic components (312) that support the core (302) of the spool internally such that the outer diameter of the core of the spool decreases in a uniform way over the width of the spool when wire is being spooled on it. To this end the core has been specifically adapted to compensate for the increased radial stiffness at the supports and the optional flanges. Such a spool resolves the problem of internal layer pressure and self damage of a sawing wire during use on a wire saw machine.

A dispensing system for dispensing cutting wire to be used in a glazing panel cut out procedure has a mounting device with a docking station for docking a wire store device. The wire store device mounts on the docking station in order to dispense the wire. The mounting device can have a rotary means operable to pay out cutting wire from the system. The rotary means is controllable to adjust the applied torque required to operate the rotary means.

An apparatus is provided with a wire bobbin (3) on which a wire electrode (1) is wound, a fastening base (25) for fastening the bobbin (3) to prevent it from rotating, a guide pulley (23) for supporting the electrode (1), a rotating arm (21) for supporting the pulley (23), drawing out the wire electrode (1), and allowing the electrode (1) to rotate around the bobbin (3), a sliding mechanism (24) for supporting the guide pulley (23) slidably on the rotating arm (21) according to the position where the wire electrode (1) is wound, and a breaking motor (13) for driving the rotating arm (21). The consumption of the electrode (1) can be dispersed to improve the machining speed and accuracy. Moreover, the reliability can be improved and the production cost is low.

The spool has different inventive aspects. There is the aspect of a core (202) of such spool that shows a radial modulus that is lower than in any other known design of a sawing wire spool. A coil of sawing wire wound on this inventive spool shows a reduced wire interlayer pressure throughout the wire pack. In this way the inventive spool solves the problem of self-damage of the wire during sawing. Over and above the spool is re-usable.
