Abstract:
Powder coating resins and coatings made using the powder coating resins are described. The powder coating resins are based on the use of C 12 to C 23 diacids. The C 12 to C 23 diacids are reacted with a reactant having an alcohol functionality and an amine functionality to form a carboxylic acid terminated polymer having ester and amide functionality. Alternatively, the C 12 to C 23 diacids are reacted with a reactant having an alcohol functionality and an amine functionality to form an intermediate polyol, which is then reacted with acetoacetic acid or an ester thereof to form an acetoacetate-terminated polymer.
Abstract:
Polyester-melamine coatings that exhibit desirable heat resistance and adhesion to a variety of polyolefin materials and labels including such coatings are provided. The polyester-melamine compounds present within the coatings can be obtained by reacting an etherified melamine and a hydroxylated polyester.

Abstract:
Amide compounds are defined and are polymerized to create polyesters and polyurethanes having amide units bearing a pendant functional group, where the nitrogen atom of the amide group is part of the polymer backbone. The pendant functional group of the functionalized amide polymer may be modified or added by post polymerization functionalization of the functionalized amide polymer. The pendant functional group of the functionalized amide polymer may include a protecting group that may be removed after polymerization. The pendant functional groups of the functionalized amide polymers may be used to modulate the physical, chemical and biological properties of the polymers.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of a polymeric quaternary ester product as a collector in a froth flotation process, to a method for froth flotation utilizing the polymeric quaternary ester, to the polymeric quaternary ester as such, and to methods for the production of the polymeric quaternary ester.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a material comprising dendritic molecules each constituted of fragments that are at least bifunctional and of fragments that are at least trifunctional joined together by ester or thioester bridges, alone or in combination with amide or urea bridges, said bridges being formed from two functions carried by different fragments, said molecules containing, on the fragments located at the ends of the dendritic branches, associative end groups capable of forming associations with one another by hydrogen bonds and joined covalently to the functions that are not involved in said bridges. It also relates to the method of production thereof, as well as to its uses and to compositions, notably cosmetic, containing this material.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compounds of formula I and II, which are functionalized amino acids, and polymers formed from the same. Polymers formed from the functionalized amino acids are expected to have controllable degradation profiles, enabling them to release an active component over a desired time range. The polymers are also expected to be useful in a variety of medical applications.
Abstract:
The invention provides a biodegradable azetidinium-functional polyester. This is useful for treating a substrate such as a cellulosic or keratinaceous textile material, preferably in the presence of a carrier. The polymer can be prepared by:a) reacting an amine-containing (di)acid or (di)ol with a suitable co-reactant, and,b) treating the product of step (a) with an epihalohydrin.Preferably step (a) occurs in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group comprising sulphuric acid, p-toluenesulphonic acid and a hafnium(IV) compound. The preferred diacid are iminodiacarboxylic acids in which each carboxylic acid moiety has a carbon number of 2-4. The preferred diols are polyalkylene glycols in which the repeat unit has a carbon number of 2-3.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a condensation polymer having at least one carboxylic acid end group connected to an alkylamide group via an ester linkage. The polymer according to the invention may be obtained through reaction of an alkanolamine and a cyclic anhydride after which a polymer is obtained through polycondensation. The polymer can be applied in a powder paint composition.
