Abstract:
This invention concerns a process for the production of the stable modification of formazan colorants, characterized by the fact that the modification which initially arises from the synthesis of metal complex colorants is converted into a stable modification in the presence of a catalyst which is a chelate ligand for transition metals.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to dicyclic metal formazan derivatives used for dye. To overcome these problems, the present invention provides a novel dicyclic metal formazan derivatives represented by formula (1) which has excellent dyeing property and fastness, wherein A is benzene or naphthalene having 1 to 3 substituent groups and sulfo group (-SO3M) in ortho-position for N-atom of hydrazone compound; B is straight- or branched-chain alkyl group, phenyl group, naphthyl group or substituent heterocyclic group; C is benzene or naphthalene having from 1 to 3 substituent groups; D is benzene or naphthalene; M is hydrogen atom, alkali metal or alkali earth metal; Me is metal ion of atomic number 27 to 29; Y is halogen; X is hydrogen atom or sulfo group, carboxyl group, phosphonic group providing solubility for water; R is straight- or branched-chain alkyl group; Q is -SO2CH=CH2, or -SO2CH2CH2L (L is a group which may be substituted by alkali); and l, m, n are independently an integer from 0 to 3.

Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to provide an optical recording medium in which a recording material of the optical recording medium has a high solubility in an organic solvent, so that the recording material can be shaped to film by a coating process and the recording material is excellent in light-resistance and stability during the preservation, so that the optical recording medium is applicable to the recordable DVD. For the object, the present invention provides the optical recording medium comprising a substrate and at least a recording medium disposed on the substrate, wherein the recording medium comprises at least one type of formazon-metal chelate dyes.
Abstract:
An organic compound which, when applied to an organic dye compound, can improve the light resistance without substantially impairing its desirable optical properties and which is excellent in solubility in organic solvents and compatibility with dyes. It is a formazan metal complex containing a specific formazan compound as a ligand. Also provided are: a process for producing the formazan metal complex; a light resistance improver comprising the formazan metal complex; an optical recording medium; a light absorber; and a formazan compound as an intermediate for producing the formazan metal complex.
