Abstract:
The present invention concerns a suspension comprising carbonaceous material particles, an alkoxylated phenol surfactant, and an aqueous liquid phase providing a high stability to the suspensions over time. The invention also concerns a process for the production of said suspensions and methods for generating power comprising combustion of said suspensions, notably with appropriate devices.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to transportable product for the transportation of paraffinic wax and methods of transporting using this transportable product. The transportable product comprises 90 to 20 weight % of a liquid comprising > 50 weight % alcohol and having a true vapor pressure of =14.7 psia when measured at 20°C, and 10 to 80 weight % of wax particles, herein the wax particles comprise =75 weight % of wax particles larger than 0.1 mm. The transportable product and methods of transporting according to the present invention are able to accommodate a relatively high weight % of paraffinic wax particles in the transportable product while avoiding interparticle adhesion and clumping by ensuring that the wax particles are not too small and the amount of small wax particles is not excessive.
Abstract:
A water-in-oil type emulsion fuel oil, prepared by dispersing and emulsifying in a heavy oil a water/carbon mixture prepared by dispersing carbon fines in water with an emulsifying agent and a protective colloid. This emulsion fuel oil comprises 100 vol% of a heavy oil and 20 to 45 vol% of the water/carbon mixture, the water being uniformly dispersed and emulsified in the heavy oil in the form of particles having diameters exceeding 20 mu m but not exceeding 35 mu m. When the amount of the water/carbon mixture to be mixed with 100 parts by weight of the heavy oil is 20 to 35 vol%, the dispersed water particles have diameters ranging from 25 to 35 mu m, while when the amount is 35 to 45 vol%, they have diameters ranging from 20 to 25 mu m. The emulsion fuel oil exhibits a flame temperature equivalent to that of a water-free heavy oil, thus being extremely advantageous in heat balance. Further, the emulsion fuel oil is effective in inhibiting the global warming, because it is decreased in the amount of oil burnt to result in a decrease in the amount of CO2 emitted.

A mixed fuel of sludge and coal is disclosed. The sludge from industrial wastewater or urban sewage in sewage treatment plants, clearing up urban discharging tube system, river, lake, channel is as raw material. Thereinto, the weight ratio of sludge and coal is that sludge is 50-65% and coal is 35-50%. The mixed fuel of sludge and coal with coal as fuel of boiler are fed to the boiler respectively when using the mixed fuel. The ratio of quantity of mixed fuel of sludge and coal to the general quantity of coal for boiler is 20-30%.
Abstract:
The invention concerns fuel compositions in the form of homogenous water-in-oil emulsions and/or organic compounds, derived from heterogeneous greasy waste and containing suspended solid particles prepared by carrying out a dynamic homogenising operation and an emulsifying operation in the presence of an emulsifier and/or a base such as an alkaline or alkaline-earth metal hydroxide. Said fuel compositions can be used as fuel in various types of stokers.
Abstract:
A mixed fuel of coal dust or the like and heavy fuel oil suited as fuel for boilers, various furnaces, and internal combustion engines, is produced by adding to heavy fuel oil a dilute aqueous solution of a water-soluble high molecular compound and carbonaceous solid fuel powder such as coal dust to disperse the coal dust or the like and water (as fine particles) in the heavy fuel oil.
Abstract:
Dispersion containing water, pulverized coal and additives, which is stable for storage, pumpable and combustible by conventional technique applied for liquid fuels. The coal content amounts to at least 55 % by weight. The dispersion contains as an additive a ionic surfactant polymer with at least one hydrophobic part with great affinity to the coal surface and at least one hydrophilic part based on ethylene oxide with the mole weight exceeding 1,000. The charge of the polymer is preferably zwitterionic or cationic.
