Abstract:
Abstract:
A method for tanning an animal substrate comprising the steps: i)agitating the animal substrate with a chromium-free tanning agent; and ii)agitating the animal substrate with a tanning agent having an oxazolidine group; wherein at least some of the agitation is performed in the presence of a solid particulate material having an average particle size of from 1 to 500mm.
Abstract:
The invention discloses a method for treating an animal substrate comprising: agitating the moistened animal substrate with a treatment formulation and a solid particulate material in a sealed apparatus. The treatment formulation can be aqueous or waterless. The animals substrate can be skin or hide. The animal substrate can be leather. The animal substrate can be a textile fibre, in particular, wool. The treatment formulation can comprise a colourant or a tanning agent. There is also disclosed an animal substrate obtained by the method.
Abstract:
Tanned leather, skin or pelt is produced by non-metal tanning, comprising the step of tanning a bated hide, skin or pelt with a tanning agent (A), the tanning agent (A) being at least one compound of formula (I), wherein X signifies fluorine, chlorine and/or ( + NR 3 ) 0-1 , wherein R is a substituted C 1 to C 6 alkyl group or an unsubstituted C 1 to C 6 alkyl group, an unsubstituted C 6 to C 10 aryl group or a substituted C 6 to C 10 aryl group or a C 5 to C 6 heteroaryl group, R1 signifies hydrogen, C 1-8 -alkyl or an alkyleneoxy radical of formula (la), - (- C 2-3 alkylene - O -) q - H (la) R2 signifies hydrogen or hydroxy, m signifies 1, 2 or 3, q is of from 1 to 10, M signifies hydrogen or an alkali metal cation or an ammonium cation, the ammonium cation being a protonated tertiary amine or a quaternary ammonium cation, in a tanning bath, the tanning bath having a pH of from 6 to 10 at the beginning of tanning step.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved pickling and bating free process suitable for both hides and skins for making chrome tanned leathers by using a mixture of conventional chrome tanning salt and alkali metal salt is used at a pH in the range of 5-5.5.
Abstract:
Dispersion of a desired compounds, in particular a fungicide, in a leather treatment solution is improved by introducing the compound into the solution in the form of a solid tablet or block comprising the compound dispersed in a sparingly water soluble carrier.
Abstract:
The production of household-machine washable and dryable, waterproof, nonflammable, and extremely colorfast leathers from wet blue hides by a process which has the advantage that significantly reduces volumes of toxic wastes are generated. The wet blue hides are washed and treated to equalize the pH at the surface and in the interior of the leather and to build at least one wanted end characteristics such as suppleness into the leather. This is followed by the introduction of additional character builders into the pores of the hide and the substitution of one or more softening agents for fats originally present in the pores of the hide. Next in a typical application of the invention are dyeing and the fixing of previously introduced substances in the pores of the hide. This is followed by refloatation with a hydrophobic waterproofing agent and buffering for pH equalization and increase of the pH. The hides are next treated to impart a pleasing, silky feel to the leather into which the hides are being converted and a hydrophobic silicone which promotes waterproof-ability and washability; and this is followed by a second fixing step.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the preparation of leather and furs by tanning without the use of plant, synthetic and mineral tanning agents and only with polymer tanning agents. Aldehydes or reactive carbonyl compounds can optionally be used in the pre-tanning stage.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for forming chrome-free retanned leather, including: (a) contacting wet white (chrome-free tanned hide) with a retanning mixture comprising from 2%to 15%, by solids weight, based on the wet weight of the wet white, of an amphoteric polymer composition comprising amine functional units and acid functional units; and (b) applying a polymeric overcoat containing an acrylic copolymer with one or more metal transition elements, with a thickness of no greater than 100 microns, to the retanned wet white. Also provided is a chrome-free retanned leather formed by the method.
Abstract:
The invention discloses a method for treating an animal substrate comprising: agitating the moistened animal substrate with a treatment formulation and a solid particulate material in a sealed apparatus wherein the treatment formulation comprises a tanning agent or a tannery process agent. The method can comprise applying the tanning agent or tannery process agent to the animal substrate wherein at least some of the agent so applied originates from the treatment formulation. There is also disclosed an animal substrate obtained by the method. The treatment formulation can be aqueous.
