Abstract:
In some embodiments, the inventive subject matter relates to a fiber construct suitable for use as a fill material for insulation or padding, comprising: a primary fiber structure comprising a predetermined length of fiber; a secondary fiber structure, the secondary fiber structure comprising a plurality of relatively short loops spaced along a length of the primary fiber. In some embodiments, the inventive subject matter relates to insulative fiber structures that mimic the structure and scale of natural down and thereby provide similar properties.
Abstract:
A method of enrobing a product portion in polymer strands includes mounting at least one product portion on a holding device and passing the at least one product portion through a polymer enrobing zone. The polymer enrobing zone can include a flow of polymeric fibers produced by a polymer spray head. The polymer fibers can wraparound the at least one product portion to produce an enrobed product portion. The holding device can hold the at least one product portion by passing at least partially through the body of the product portion. At least a portion of the holding device is removed from the enrobed product portion. In some cases, the at least one product portion includes smokeless tobacco.
Abstract:
A positive variable resistive yarn having a core, a sheath, and an insulator. The sheath includes distinct electrical conductors intermixed within a thermal expansive low conductive matrix. As the temperature of the yarn increases, the resistance of the sheath increases.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention generally include apparatus and methods for depositing nanowires in a predetermined pattern during an electrospinning process. An apparatus includes a nozzle for containing and ejecting a deposition material, and a voltage source coupled to the nozzle to eject the deposition material. One or more electric field shaping devices are positioned to shape the electric field adjacent to a substrate to control the trajectory of the ejected deposition material. The electric field shaping device converges an electric field at a point near the surface of the substrate to accurately deposit the deposition material on the substrate in a predetermined pattern. The methods include applying a voltage to a nozzle to eject an electrically-charged deposition material towards a substrate, and shaping one or more electric fields to control the trajectory of the electrically-charged deposition material. The deposition material is then deposited on the substrate in a predetermined pattern.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a piece of clothing, in particular for direct wearing on the skin. The piece of clothing comprises at least two different yarns (1, 2). The yarn (2), facing the skin, has a completely sealed and smooth surface and is one-pieced. In a version thereof, the yarn (2), facing the skin, comprises a number of individual filaments (21) collected into one thread. Said yarn has a sealed and smooth surface.
Abstract:
Improved fishing lines (15), and specifically fly lines, and methods of manufacture and use thereof are disclosed. The line (15) includes a core line portion (28) and a coating portion (30), the coating (30) including a copolymer of polyolefin and acrylic material, the polyolefin preferably being polyethylene. The lines provided include a clear floating fly line (15) having a nylon core and ethylene acrylic acid copolymer coating.
Abstract:
A process of making a fibre-reinforced polymeric material comprises sliding a fibre bundle over an arcuate support surface (2) in the line of the arc, and injecting into the bundle a molten or liquid polymer through a plurality of slots (4) in the surface, each slot being transverse to the bundle. The process allows effective impregnation of materials, at relatively high production speed and low capital cost.
Abstract:
Device for sheathing thread (10) with a thermoplastic organic substance. The device (12), mounted as an angle head on an extruder (13), comprises an inlet port and a hollow mandrel, with its bore opening into a central channel (26), the channel being linked to the extruder by means of a supply chamber (29). A portion of the device is movable or removable, the displacement of said portion opening and closing said device along its whole height, from its periphery to its axis. Application in the manufacture of composite products.
