Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for disposal of liquid and food into a sink basin (12). The disclosed system cooperates with and delivers the received waste material to the main waste system on-board the vehicle. This is typically an aircraft waste tank (36). The system does not require a manual flush, but includes a sensor system that activates drainage of the holding line (18) when the liquid and/or other waste material reaches a certain level therein. The disclosed system combines the functionalities of a common galley sink and a galley waste disposal unit, but occupies only the space envelope of an existing galley sink. The use of an existing galley sink means that no additional space on the countertop is required.
Abstract:
A lavatory system includes a basin configured to receive at least one faucet, the basin defining a primary drain passage and first and second overflow drain passages; and an overflow adapter configured to be mounted to a rear surface of the basin, the overflow adapter defining an adapter passage such that when the overflow adapter is mounted to the basin, fluid received by way of the first overflow drain passage is directed through the adapter passage between the overflow adapter and the rear surface of the basin and to the second overflow drain passage.
Abstract:
A composite material includes a polymer matrix material and filler material that includes vitreous china. The composite material has a water absorption of less than about one percent. Such a composite material may be used in the production of articles such as sinks, bathtubs, shower receptors, and other articles that may benefit from low water absorption properties.
Abstract:
A hand washing station has a receptacle with a raised or domed portion, a fluid dispenser for dispensing a relatively hot fluid, a drain for draining fluid from the receptacle, and a cooling jacket for conveying a relatively cold fluid beneath the raised portion of the receptacle. The raised portion of the receptacle forms part of a heat exchanger for transferring heat from the relatively hot fluid within the receptacle to the relatively cold fluid within the cooling jacket.
Abstract:
A sink (10) mountable to an underside of a countertop, an assembly including this sink, a method installing this sink, and a method of manufacturing this sink are disclosed. The sink includes at least one basin (16) with a mounting rim (26) extending outwardly from an upper portion of the basin. The mounting rim includes a channel (42 ) recessed relative to an upper surface of the mounting rim. Among other things, this channel may strengthen and inhibit warping of the mounting rim as well as be configured to neatly receive a sealant during installation.
Abstract:
An insect-destroying dispenser for installation in sink system (10) to dispense an insect-discouraging material over a period of time without human participation.
Abstract:
The worktop for kitchens or the like comprises a bearing structure, a work surface supported by the bearing structure and suitable for preparing food, at least one drain opening for removing from the work surface the wastes produced during the preparation of the food, a chute substantially sloped, supported by the bearing structure and arranged below the drain opening, and a collection area for the wastes obtained inside the bearing structure.
Abstract:
This invention is a novel sink rim that is readily adaptable to mounting by conventional drop in, under mount and flush mount methods. By incorporating a thicker and wider outwardly extending peripheral mounting flange, a tri-mountable sink rim is created. Having a flat surface on both the upper and lower surfaces of the outwardly extending peripheral mounting flange, the rim may be mounted as a drop in or an under mount sink assembly. These square exterior edges, as opposed to rolled or beveled edges, create a truly flush mountable rim, overcoming the limitations of prior art sinks. The additional thickness and width of the outwardly extending peripheral mounting flange provide adequate support for the sink assembly when flush mounted.
