    摘要: The invention is a structural connector used as a component to construct an arch consisting of a plurality of closely adjacent, polygonal rows of stringer beams. The multiple row polygonal arch is a low-cost, general purpose support structure for bridges, shelters and arbors applicable to many cost-, time- or environmentally-sensitive situations. The invention is a Y-shaped connector, typically made of sheet metal, with three brackets, two upper brackets and a lower bracket, which collectively enable a union of three beams forming one node of the multiple row polygonal arch. Using these Y-shaped connectors to join the beams at each node creates the arch structure, and additionally provides the features of cantilevering, modularity, generic component shape, reusability and safety. The invention is applicable to a variety of structures such as: pedestrian and vehicular bridges, shelters, arbors, as well as jewelry, furniture and toys.

The invention also relates to a method where the fixing tool is used in the fastening of building framework members by the fact that the same is placed on a first framework member connecting to the intended position of a second framework member, and the fixing tool is fastened on said first framework member by the fact that the fixing members included in the fixing tool are driven into the surface of the first framework member, whereupon the second framework member resting against the abutment member of the fixing tool is fastened to said first framework member, whereupon the fixing tool is removed from said first framework member by applying a force to the removal member.

    摘要: An adjustable nogging is formed by selecting a length of timber (10) appropriate to the spacing of two members between which the nogging is to extend. Metallic connectors (20) are secured to the end faces (17, 18) of the length of timber and then that length is divided into two pieces (22, 23) by way of a diagonal cut extending from one side of the length of timber at one end region (5) thereof to the other side of the length at the other end region thereof. The total length of the divided timber is adjusted by relative sliding movement of the two pieces (22, 23), with the cut faces in sliding engagement. Thereafter, the two pieces are secured together with hot-melt adhesive but possibly also or instead nails or screws, when the total length of the resultant nogging is that required (10) for the installation.

A second side tab (23) is similarly formed to the first side tab (22, 10) and adjoins the end plate (21) along a second common edge opposed to the first common edge, for bending round to engage a second side face (12) of the timber member.

    摘要: The invention provides a connector (10) for connecting two lengths of timber brandering (36 and 38) end-to-end in a roofing structure. The connector (10) comprises an elongate, hollow sleeve (12) which is sized and shaped to receive a length of timber brandering (36 or 38) of generally square cross section at each longitudinal end (28 and 30) thereof, and which includes a pair of inwardly directed gripping formations (20 and 22) for gripping brandering of various different cross-sectional dimensions within a predetermined tolerance by engaging or deforming the brandering.
