Abstract: There is provided a collapsible ladder having several collapsible ladder sections, where each or at least part of the ladder sections comprises two hollow ladder bars arranged parallel to each other and interconnected at an upper end by a rung, and where each collapsible ladder section is telescopically inserted into a lower ladder section. Each ladder bar of a collapsible ladder section has a locking hole adjacent the lower end part of the ladder bar and an extension below the locking hole, and retaining mechanisms are provided in at least part of the rungs for locking the collapsible ladder sections relative to one another when the collapsible ladder sections are extended. Each of or part of the retaining mechanisms comprises a locking pin, which can be brought into an extended and locked position in order to engage a corresponding locking hole provided in the ladder bar of a ladder section positioned there above, and a release part for bringing the locking pin into a retracted and un-locked position. At least part of the rungs holding a retaining mechanism with a locking pin and a release part have spacers provided at the bottom, where at least part of said spacers have a release actuator with a bottom part extending below the spacer when the ladder section above the rung is locked in the extended position. The release actuator engages the release part of a retaining mechanism of the rung and is arranged to activate the release part when the bottom part of the release actuator is moved upwards through the spacer thereby bringing the locking pin into the un-locked position.

Abstract: A safety extension device for a ladder is provided. The safety extension device comprises a frame having a lower section for engaging the ladder and an upper section located above the lower section. The safety extension also comprises a clamping assembly mounted to the lower section of the frame, the clamping assembly having a lower and an upper ladder engaging support separated along the frame by a clamping distance. At least one of the ladder engaging supports is movable along the frame. The safety extension further comprises an actuation mechanism mounted to the upper section of the frame and connected to the movable support by a connecting member. The actuation mechanism is operable to move the movable support along the frame and thereby vary the clamping distance.

Abstract: A ladder support assembly including a base frame having first and second ends and a pair of pivot supports extending from the base frame which support a rod configured to pivotally support a ladder relative to the base frame. A pivot frame is pivotally mounted to the base frame and is biased away from the base frame. A bracket assembly is pivotally mounted to the pivot frame and includes a pair of bracket plates. Each bracket plate has an inner flange and outer flange with a ladder rail receiving area between the inner and outer flanges. The ladder receiving area is configured such that the bracket plate is slidable relative to a respective ladder rail received therein. A crank assembly includes a spool rotatably supported on the base frame and a cord wound about the spool with a free end of the cord connected to the bracket assembly. Rotation of the spool in a first direction takes up the cord and causes the pivot frame to pivot toward the base frame, thereby raising the ladder toward a raised position. Rotation of the spool in a second, opposite direction causes the cord to be let out and the pivot frame to pivot away from the base frame, thereby lowering the ladder toward a lowered transport position.

Abstract: A ladder safety mechanism comprises at least one damp, preferably a pair of spaced apart damps, attachable part way along a ladder, to secure the ladder to part of a structure. In some embodiments, the mechanism includes at least one manually operated actuator, such as a rope or cable, coupled to the at least one clamp to enable a user located at the bottom of the ladder to open the at least one clamp to receive the part of a structure. In some embodiments, the at least one clamp is automatically secured to the part of the structure by placing the clamp onto the structure. In some embodiments, adjustable stepladders are provided which include locking mechanisms that enable height adjustment of the ladder through application of a force towards the rails of the ladder.
