A hermetically sealed damper assembly includes a sealed damper housing (256), a plunger (260), and a load transferring member (262) coupled to the plunger. The sealed damper housing includes a body having a cavity and a resistive flow path defined therein. The cavity and resistive flow path are filled with a viscous fluid. The body includes a plurality of springs integrally formed therein. The plunger is disposed within the cavity, and separates the cavity into a first control volume and a second control volume. The resistive flow path provides fluid communication between the first and second control volumes. The plunger is coupled to the damper housing by the plurality of springs such that the springs provide a restorative force to the plunger. The load transferring member is configured to transmit mechanical loads to the plunger.

The plurality of bearing pad support assemblies are radially interposed between the bearing pads and the radial outer wall. Erfindungsgemäß weist die Welle (5) eine Nut (30) auf, die es ermöglicht, dass das Medium (21) aus der Kammer (22) über die Nut (30) austritt oder in die Kammer (22) über die Nut (30) eintritt, die nach Herstellung eines Kräftegleichgewichtes im Lager (20) wieder geschlossen ist. Alternativ weist das Lager an seinem Lagermantel eine Austrittsöffnung auf, die es bei herrschendem Kräfteungleichgewicht im Lager ermöglicht, dass das Medium zur Herstellung eines Kräftegleichgewichtes im Lage aus der Kammer über die Austrittsöffnung austritt. Die Erfindung ist für Abgasturbolader überwiegend im Kraftfahrzeugbau vorgesehen.

In a particular form the pump (1, 200) is a centrifugal pump wherein the impeller (100, 204) is entirely sealed within the pump housing (2, 201) and is hydrodynamically suspended therein as the impeller rotates within the fluid (105) urged by electromagnetic means external to the pump cavity (106, 203). Hydrodynamic suspension is assisted by the impeller (100, 204) having deformities therein such as blades (8) with tapered surfaces at leading edges (102, 223) and trailing edges (103, 224) of bottom and top edges (221, 222) thereof.
